@Venom1080 I wish you'd let up. I've made three threads and you've been less than friendly on two. This is discussion. If you want it moved report it, if staff moves it fine.

@cold blood I tried looking at the bottom, I'll post a picture, maybe someone can help at least guess the sex.

@mconnachan Ok I layed the wood down as you suggested, no sharp edges now and can still go under the arch if wants to. And after looking at pictures of Forrest floors in Brazil added one more plant. Course, those glass rocks and that pendant light are native to Brazil forestry, I don't think, but still. See these pictures. Is it too crowded or okay? I tried to put in a few things it could move around, I hear they like to do that. Also, see him on the glass? That DLS you see there I measured to 5.5", if he stretched fully would be close to 6". I have 3 to 3.5" of substrate in a 12.5" high terrarium. Appreciate all your kind help.

Side note. He was pretty nice about me moving stuff around. Might have flicked a hair or two, he did stick his butt up and kick a little at one point. But, overall seemed much calmer today.

I would still add about 2" of substrate to the enclosure, the pic when the spider is on the glass is showing you that there needs to be more, just a couple of inches.

I've been able to reach in and get crickets out for example. I wouldn't have considered that last night.
I have a suggestion for you: buy a 3-4" wide tropical fish net with a nice long handle. Use it to get the uneaten crickets out instead of your hand. Fangs that size, no matter how weak the venom, are not something you want piercing your hand.

or
Fish net, brilliant!

I have 10 inch stainless steel (wouldn't mind 12) and I have used those but, I usually injure the cricket. Suppose that doesn't matter, don't they die in a few days anyway?

If you can catch crickets from an enclosure with tongs without crushing them, you're more skilled than I am.
why do the crickets need to survive....getting them out is whats important.

I rarely feed crickets any more....all other feeders are easy pickups with tweezers.

In addition to what others have said in regards to the substrate height and everything, I wanted to ask if the brown jar looking thing is supposed to be a hide? Aside from the fact that it looks like it could potentially get stuck in there, it's better to give them hides that you bury in the ground at an angle and that are open underneath so that they can burrrow farther down.

Half logs and cork bark work well.

You can feed your tarantula as many crickets as it will eat, one or two week for a tarantula that size isn't enough but i doubt it'll eat 12.

This species of T is a garbage disposal and they eat a lot at once yours can probably eat 3-5 a week definitely more than two.

Yah, its a pendant light buried at an angle halfway down, both ends are open, so back is in dirt. It's a bigger opening than it looks but, we're getting that out today. I don't think those are too natural to brazilian forest floors so we're either going to get him a hollow or half log, or build him something new with what we have. We were trying to save a little $ but we want more natural for him. Gunna get the glass lights out today too, as well as 2 more inches substrate.

I was thinking of dubias, not crix, which is what I use, sorry for any confusion, so yeah what @Jones0911 has said, maybe 5 at the very most. Any more and he'll mature too quickly, assuming that the seller was sure of the sex, he said male so I advised accordingly.

I say male but they were unsure. I should stop saying he, as I do not know sex. May be worth noting this room is warmer than the rest in my house. Sits around 75-80. Usually around 77 maybe 78.

That's not a problem, wait until the next moult, then it can be sexed 100% accurately from the exuvia, hope you're enjoying having the new "garbage disposal unit". I find Dubia's to be much better feeders than crickets as they have more meat content per size, they don't smell and they are silent unlike crix, if you can get Dubia roaches then I would deffo give them a go, you will need to feed less as well. Temps are great nothing to concern yourself with there.

I wanna try Dubia Roaches, never heard of them, will look around. Though, I do like feeding ;) I am enjoying him indeed! (or her). I love how active it is!

Edit: SUPER curious about the molt process. I've read up on it, seen videos, I'm in pretty good shape I think knowledge/understanding wise, but never seen it in person before.

Shipping is only $7 no matter how much you buy and they have sizes from ¼ to adults

It's absolutely amazing to watch in person, a must see for everyone, T keeper or not, it's almost alien like.

What size would be good D. Roaches for these 5" guys? I assume large or extra.

I'd say adult dubia male/female

Also if you are like me and dislike small food that doesn't move and buries it's self you can also buy red runners from this site:

https://www.aaronpauling.com/collec.../1000-small-rusty-reds-a-k-a-blatta-lateralis

The only downside is this guy ONLY ships in Monday/Tuesday and even if you want it shipped to your house, because of heat he has it held at the post office and for some of us we can't get there before it closes.... Other than that he does great business.
