Moult turned nasty

Returned home to find my 1" C cyaneopubescens in serious difficulty moulting.

It appears that the fangs and pedipalps have become stuck in the old skin :(
Using a wet cotton bud and a lot of patience I've managed to coax the old skin off the spider - the palps are hanging down and look limp and useless - I can't really see how the fangs have fared due to the tarantula being rather small :(

Anyone have any words of advice? I think I'm going to just have to hope for the best for my baby.

man,im sorry.. theres inevitably going to be a bad molt sometime...

the skin is off, right? You're just going to have to wait untill its done feeling out its new skin...

just let it rest and feel its new skin...

T's have beenmuch worse off and have come back from certain death, you know..

so just wait and hope...
good luck man!

Ydy, ond ddim yn ardderchog! :D Rydw I'n siarad Cymraeg yn well 'na fi'n ysgrifennu!

I've managed to persuade the old skin off, and from what I can see:

All legs, abdomen, carapace etc are fine.

One palp is limp, the other appears to be fine

The fangs are black, which says to me that they are still stuck inside the old skin - there's no way in hell I can get them off.....that's my biggest concern for now.

Lopez,
Can you tell from the shed skincast, if it shed its mouth parts?
The thorax is a string looking thing shed from the mouth area.
You should check for this, cause if it didn't molt this part, the T wont be able to eat no matter what you do to help.

The actual "mouthparts" have shed - the area is still pale.

It appears that only the Chelicerae and fangs themselves have failed to shed

Well the T has made it through the night, but I cant really guess at his health until he's hardened enough to attempt feeding.
Any advice/thoughts?

Tarantula - Ble i mewn Cymru fucheddi? 'i s 'n fawr areithi Cymraeg! Ydy 'ch 'n flaen dafodiaith? fel alli canfod (that was wrong, but you understand it, right?) , gwisga t areithia Cymraeg 'n gystal , namyn cara dafodieithoedd a Cymraeg ydy a 'n arddun dafodiaith!

um, that was all T-content.. It was easier than translating "mouthparts" or "thorax" or "chelicerae" ('i s 'n chwnsel , dde?)

But seriously glad it made it through the night. I'd say just wait it out untill everything hardens up -- that way you can't muck anything up..

good luck and let us know! can you post any pics?

peace (da nos)

Oooohh.. I want to be able to speak welsh too. Is it at all related to gaelic?

Sorry for being entirely off-topic, I'm not trying to hijack this thread.

PM, since i've surmised there's no real set rules for which posts get deleted, I've learned. I think its pretty much up to the whim of whoever is deleting them at the time... but don't even tempt it -- so stick with the PM!

i still want pics of this molt! Lopez-- any hope?

we'll talk linguistics!

Pics will be tricky due to the poor light in here, but I'll try.

Back in a bit....

They don't appear to be able to, but the T is so nervy and jumpy it's hard to tell in all honesty.
HE seems extremely stressed by the whole ordeal, and I don't blame him. It must be like having a gumshield jammed in your mouth only about a hundred times worse. :(

Unfortunately, despite a lot of intensive care, he died today.
It seems the spider was completely unable to eat or drink. :(
