microhike, Glendora CA on Aug. 14, 2007... TUESDAY

it seems like a few of us might get together tonight
(how's *that* for short notice!) and look around the
hills and valleys that Johnnyster showed us at the
Aug2007BBQ.

we will be doing some JUDICIOUS collecting. i promise
i will lead a H&H to the wastelands for unfettered
collecting as soon as it gets cool! (or another night
hunt!?)

if you are interested you can meet at my house or
possibly warren's house.

my address is
12235 Blue Spruce Dr
Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91739

the hunt is going to start sometime around 6:30-7pm, i
think. it will go to... well... *i'm* bringing a
blacklight and several whitelights... so... late?

see thread here:

night hunt, Rancho Cucamonga, Saturday Night, Aug. 18, 2007

night hunt, Rancho Cucamonga, Saturday Night, Aug. 18, 2007

i think i might be doing a night hunt by my dad's house, in Rancho Cucamonga, CA saturday night

i have previously found what i believe to be evidence of folding door spiders (like trapdoors and purswebs mixed together, kinda) and have since read that it might be easier to catch the little darlings at night :D

there are questions as to the legality of going to this place at night... caveat hunter hehehehe

information thread on this potential hunt:

All right you local yokels:

This scorp was given to to me today. My pet shop owner said some guy brought it in, he found it up in the desert. Probably Palm Springs or around there. She's hugely gravid, but I had no idea we had such large ones here. She's about 4"-5", very close to my P. imperator's size! I'll take clearer picks later, but my boss is here and I had to do it quicklyl and quietly!!!

Any guesses?

HEllo,
PErhaps is H spdix or H obscurus.
I think is to black to be H arizonensis
(Hadrurus)

If it is a female H spadix, would you like to trade her for some of my inverts or spiders????
thanks

regards

Well, if you're SURE!!!;)

Ya think she's gravid? Or just fat, which I doubt, cuz we are having quite the drought here.

If she IS indeed gravid, the babies will be up for trade and gifts, however I'm not going to get rid of her, she's a beaut!!

Damn, oh well in that case I'll take the babies. I'll see if i can get another computer soon to look at the pic. Try to take a side shot and point the light i'll try to see if she's gravid or not.

i believe there has been some limitted success and it involved super deep sand based substrate with a like, hydration gradient that the scorps could pick

i think you can read up on it here, actually.

agree H. arizonensis, btw
