I'm not sure you'll see this as this post was a month ago- But do you know how early the sexual dimorphism presents in p irmina? I have one that's about 4 inches now and is very dark, looks like a female scaled down. I can't imagine he'd turn into a gangly male but I've heard you can't tell until the ultimate molt
The males become dimorphic at maturity. You can sex juveniles by their molt before they become mature. Juvenile males look the same as females before their last molt. Here's my juvenile that I'm fairly sure is a male ~3"DLS:

Agreeing with the others there about the big change at maturity. Mine was sold to me as presumed female. I was shocked when “she” put on an inch size gain and had gangly, pipe cleaner legs. NMT’s told me what I feared. He did seem less black to me and more like a dark, ash grey as a juvie, but as NMT’s also said there, that may not always be the case.

Following this thread really confirms for me that if mine turn out male, it's perfectly fine.

The hobby seems to venerate females - for obvious reasons - but male or female, they're all big, beautiful and full of personality after all.

Thanks for sharing :)

I lost my mature male Selenobrachys sp. Romblon pink yesterday. He matured 11 months ago, and unfortunately I was never able to find someone with an adult female (which isn't surprising with some of the more obscure species). He was very reclusive, even as an MM, and I rarely got to see him in his entirety. Tough little dude, though, and ate regularly - he actually ate last week. It was just his time, though. Look at those long, thin legs (5" DLS)...

Not a great pic through the enclosure, but this Thrixopelma ockerti is doing the new MM stretch - those are some seriously long legs. 😆

Kerü, Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens, matured 7/8/24, lounging in his bachelor pad.

308 days since his maturing molt, still ready to show us all who's boss. ♥

E. cyanognathus mature male. He matured at a smaller size than I expected...about 2.5-2.75 in legspan. He has beautiful coloration, though! IMG_20240901_190301332~2.jpg

Did u opt to move him? I don’t see his websock?
No, he's just collapsed everything and hides in the half round.

Or, apparently, pulls an ostrich sometimes?

Other than his objections to being hit in the head with an inbound cricket every now and then, he seems pretty happy in his 6x6x9.

That’s some demolition! I remember he had a pretty impressive nearly knee sock going on there.

He gave up maintaining it, so after most of a year it has basically flattened itself. And yes he had a pretty good fortress going for a while, though not as extensive as Irma's.

The sad, trampled remains do still contain his old water dish though. And his final molt, as you can see above 🤣

Ahh, maybe it was Irma’s I’m thinking of.
Wei, my MM irminia, has his buried back in his man cave, too, lol.
