MM P. irminia "Spunk" desperately preening in the bin next door. Because he likes to give me a good scare now and then. (And also because his feet got wet.)

Relevant to the above.....A. purpurea "T" has been redecorating...again.....

Yes, she did eventually squeeze back behind her bark .

And G. pulchra Lava came all the way out of her burrow TWICE to check on Blue.
"Dude, find any ladies in there yet??"


No, no he did not.

Old Man Blue has been looking increasingly rough over the past week or two. He only matured this past January, but I can't shake the feeling that his time with us might be running out.

Scrunched more often than not...but uninterested in food or water


Annoyed that it rained a few drops


Found a perfect spot to yell at me to put the camera away and leave him alone


I can totally picture him shaking his fist at kids on the lawn.

And today, still in that spot, only hanging from his front three feet and apparently unresponsive. RIP, Blue you beautiful boy. We'll plant you out in the garden tomorrow and you can help the raspberries and blackberries grow.

I’m so sorry for your loss of your beautiful boy. I’ve enjoyed watching him grow in your kind care. Please pass my sympathies to your youngin as well.

In other news, I'm pretty sure Spot the Psalmo is gonna stick as a name. Exhibit A:


Could've sworn this posture was saying "did I hear there were crickets??"


But no, friend iheringi just wanted to like confirm for sure that there were, indeed, crickets. Didn't actually WANT one. Just...stood there stoically while it tickled a foot, like "yup, that sure IS a cricket."

Nothing in the world is as cute as an Avic sling. Isn’t it awesome how iheringi slings look just like miniature adults? Love them!

Sadly, even the "small" crickets from the pet store were bigger than it. I didn't realize quite how much too big the smallest of the smalls was until I put it in there...poor baby was TERRIFIED of it, and then I had to fish it back out. (It has now been squished and left for dead to be scavenged later )

The other two littles got lesser mealworms instead, and snatched them right up.

Unreasonably tiny tapi is tiny:

As much as I hate PetCo, when my LPS had someone buy all 200 of the 1-2 week old crix the day I came for my semimonthly purchase, I asked the PetCo worker if I could pick my own from the small bin and explained why. I washed my hands and caught a dozen of the tiniest in the bin for my wee slings. That’s love.

Someone has officially discovered Behind The Leaf now



.....and is practically dwarfed by a singular drop of water.


This bin has literally been sitting, already all set up, since October 2022 waiting for me to find a Y diversipes. I'm glad this little one seems to be settling in well.

Despite not eating since arrival, friend diversipes is already acting one-leg fat:


Tiny tapi has eaten more than the other two babies combined, despite being smaller than either of them, yet is also the only one seen out of its burrow in days:


Spot the Psalmo had a fun adventure exploring The Top Of The Leaf...until the scary human looked in the bin.

And friend iheringi is, well, lazing about ...on....top......of the hide. You know. As one does.

I'm glad this one seems comfortable and not stressed out in its new home. It'll be fun to see if it stays this "stoic" once it's hungry again...

Don’t worry, she won’t! I would encourage you to not drop the cricket directly in front of her though. Enjoy the show!!
