Is the Zoo Med Creatures Creature habitat good for tailless whip scorpions?

thanks! it’s towards the bottom so i added more water to the substrate, but it could also be due to stress…. should i put something to cover it up so it can get more privacy?

i added a ton of springtails and added 2-3 pieces of rice at the bottom for them since there’s nothing yet for them to eat

i probably won’t try to feed it for at least a week most likely 2

here’s a pic of it
(not sure if it’s drinking water off the walls or thought it was prey but it’s like “clawing” lol)
They will drink water off the walls if they're dehydrated, so keeping it nice and moist is a good call. If the room is fairly dim and fairly quiet and it can hide behind that cork bark it'll be fine. Just leave it alone for now and let it recover :)

it probably was dehydrated, there’s no more water droplets on the glass lol, should i put more? I also covered about 90% of the top to make it extra humid

something interesting i noticed was that it found the two pieces of rice and moved it and it moved all the spagnhum moss to one area

I keep moist substrate and do a little misting for good measure.

It’s moist enough. Eventually you’ll be able to tell by sight :)
Remember that this animal is still recovering, so it may take a few days or weeks to bounce back.
Most amblypygi aren’t inclined to use a water dish, but yours might if it’s sufficiently dehydrated to be desperate. Make sure it’s very shallow - they are not swimmers.

i included the water dish more for humidity reasons, if the water dish won’t make a difference i can take it out, in my opinion it looks ugly just thought it’d help keep moisture up lol

Won’t hurt to leave it in for the next little while as insurance. At this point leaving the enclosure alone and not messing with anything for a week or so will help a lot. The animal has what it needs - just let it rest.

okay. sounds good, how do i know when it’s “recovered”, i understand the whole stressed thing and letting it recover just wanna know how it looks when recovered

Amblypygi are sort of subtle. Stress postures are tight, hugging the wall closely, pedipalps drawn in, whips in close to the body. When relaxed they’ll spend some time waving their whips slowly around, their bodies won’t always be pressed against the wall, they may let their pedipalps hang loosely.

oh it’s been moving it’s whips around often, guess that’s a good sign, crazy how it can move them every which way

As long as you can't wring the substrate like a wet towel you're good.
I have a water dish in with mine just for humidity, not for drinking.

do you think the water dish makes any difference? i don’t really like the look of it, but if it’s beneficial i don’t mind

thanks, it seems to be staying in the same spot where the water dish was, guess it just likes that area

great spot to view it too
Mine likes to tuck into a culvert between one of the cork bark pieces and some substrate that is curled up.
