Is the Zoo Med Creatures Creature habitat good for tailless whip scorpions?

hey! i’m getting my tailless whip soon, my seller got one for me it’s a phrynus, i just have to wait for pics to see which one if you can help ID!
I'm not the best at ID but when you post photos, we can tag in the people here who are. I'd guess it's most likely going to be P. whitei because that's what seems to be most commonly available in North America (besides Damon)

thanks again, been very helpful in this process, i’m adding springtails in tomorrow then the tailless whip scorpion once i get

if it’s a whitei, i remember you saying it may be a bit cramped when full grown, how much more space would i need when/if that happens?

I think the enclosure I have mine in is about 12"H X 5"D X 8"W, which is okay but I want to give it a little more side-to-side space. I'm planning something closer to 16" X 6" X 12" in the future.

I like to give my animals more space than they really need. just my preference.

I do that if using kritter keepers or similar enclosures with airy lids.

Is there a method to covering the mesh? Should I start with like 50 or like 75 percent of the lid? Is there such thing as too humid? I know that the substrate shouldn’t be so wet you can squeeze it like a lemon n have water come out lol

Yes it can be too humid you don't want a swamp and you don't want a mold factory.

I just use saran wrap.

any ideas on ID, he said supplier sells them as phrynus mexicanus, but he said that can’t be so he sells them as phrynus sp. Nicaragua

I think it is not possible to ID this phrynids from Nicaragua via pictures! As the systematic in P. whitei is a mess and the species so far widely distributed, nobody knows the 'real' P. whitei!
I can only say that from three different imports and most likely 2 different spots, that my Nicaraguan Phrynus species are P. maesi and NOT P. whitei.

but overall the care does not differ and their sizes are relatively the same?

Yeah, these two are functionally identical.
thanks!

i just got it, and i’m realizing it’s missing its front leg on the right side (in the picture) will it regrow? it broke off right at the “joint”

also stupid question but like when Ts go in premolt you should not feed them and you’ll know by them refusing food (most of the time) is this the same for tailless whip scorpions?

and lastly is it safe to leave a cricket in with them until they eat it or die for 24hours (i’ll have springtails)

If it broke off at the joint it should regrow when it moults.

Yes, they typically refuse food for a while before a moult (but also when they're full, or if they're kept too dry, or if they are stressed out)

If the animal is definitely not close to a moult then leaving in a cricket for 24 hours is not dangerous (but can stress out the animal). If there's any chance that it might moult soon, it's safest remove uneaten prey within a few hours.

FYI since you have just received it, it's better if you don't try to feed it right away. It will be stressed out from transport and moving into a new enclosure. Just keep things nice and moist and dark and quiet for a week or so and leave it alone. Then try offering prey after a week of letting it settle in.

thanks! it’s towards the bottom so i added more water to the substrate, but it could also be due to stress…. should i put something to cover it up so it can get more privacy?

i added a ton of springtails and added 2-3 pieces of rice at the bottom for them since there’s nothing yet for them to eat

i probably won’t try to feed it for at least a week most likely 2

here’s a pic of it
(not sure if it’s drinking water off the walls or thought it was prey but it’s like “clawing” lol)
