Hello everyone! I technically joined the forums last year but I just lurked while learning about tarantulas. I finally got my first tarantula, a Brachypelma auratum, a few days ago though, and I'm excited to join the forums "officially." Happy to be here and always looking to learn more!!
Great choice! B. auratum and B. klaasi are my 2 favorite in the genus. Thanks for joining the discussion!

Hello I'm new here, about 2 years and a few months into the hobby now. Started with 2 curly hair and now I'm up to at least 10 spiders.

Hello!! Newbie here! I have porcellio laevis isopods and springtails, but that's it as far as bugs go...I've owned isopods for only 3 months now, and they've just started having lots of babies!! So stoked. Ive done lots of research on the way, supreme gecko YT channel has helped me a lot. Bought some isopod chow off his website and they are loving it. As for other pets, i have 12 chickens, 2 dogs, a cat, and 3 fish and a mystery snail. Last year i raised monarch caterpillars inside and had a lot of fun!! I'm also on 2 other forums, BackYard Chickens as well as The Cat Site. Can't wait to contribute to this forum and help others:D

Hi All,

I’m Josh from the uk and I am currently making a return to the hobby. I started keeping T’s in 2021 but unfortunately a year later me and my partner at the time split up and due to my sister not wanting them in the house until I found a place to buy I had to rehome them all.

after now finding someone who’s very understanding of T’s I’d like to start the hobby again. Although I only have a years experience I did end of dabbling in old world as well as new (I miss my H. Mac) and I love arboreal T’s.

I joined the forum to get as much helpful info as possible.
Thanks

Hej!!!

My name is Andrzej. Fairly new to keeping spiders and bugs. Actually can’t handle spiders at all lol. But keep them. Currently I have 10 Curly Hair, looking into getting more once I get some more space.

Hello folks, North Wales hobbyist here, into Star Wars, Playstation, Poker, I'm new to arachnids, I care for two Ghost Mantis, had others before but I have a couple of spiders that have made my home their home so thought I would study them and maybe expand a little into spiders. They are so cool. Gonna post the pics on the main forum to identify hopefully. Think it's a False Widow but need some expert verification. c u round)

Hi! My name is Maddie, but most people online refer to me as May because of my username, and either is okay with me! I have ADHD, and one of my special interests is spiders! I’ve been obsessed with spiders since I was roughly seven years old, and I haven’t stopped studying them since! It took me 9 years to convince my parents to let me buy my first T, and I got a Grammostola Pulchripes sling in October of 2024! Right now she (I say she as wishful thinking) is a baby, and I can’t wait to watch her grow as I grow up (graduating high school and starting college). I’m finally moving into a larger bedroom soon, so I’m hoping to get my hands on some more spiders to fill all the new empty space:devil:

Hello :) I'm a novice tarantula keeper from the UK who, after some research has acquired a Neoholothele Incei - who I'm a bit I love with already!

I find tarantulas fascinating and I'm keen to learn the best ways to keep them. I joined Arachnoboards for the community and the resources!

Hi! I'm very new to the hobby - picked up an Aphonopelma seemanni sling at a local reptile expo a few weeks ago. I definitely could have researched more before that expo purchase - the seller said it was a good beginner species and while my post-hoc research suggests the same, I still wish I'd had a stronger idea of what to look for before going, as I hadn't realized they would be so slow-growing. I don't regret the purchase by any means, she's a great spider - so cute and has a special place in my heart, just wishing I went into it with a list of specific species I was interested in. I have experience keeping reptiles and mantids, and had been wanting to try keeping a T for a couple years before that point & did most of my research on more general T care that wasn't as species specific.
I then got home from that expo and continued to research the species' care and more species to boot, and made a "want list" of other species that seemed interesting and not too difficult care-wise. This weekend I decided to spend my tax return on a few more slings at my LPS: Homeomma chilense, Cyriocosmus elegans, and Chromatopelma cyanopubescens, since the advice for new keepers I'd seen online was to start with a few slings and raise them simultaneously. I was honestly tickled to find the H chilense, since that was my "pipe dream, get it if they have it" spider. So now I have a few docile T's, a few that are more bolty, and a few that are much faster growing, and all absolutely gorgeous to boot! Some of the ones I got don't seem too commonly recommended as "beginner" species, but I think I'm up to the challenge of something more bolty.

So now I suppose the next step in that journey as a keeper is joining arachnoboards.

Well welcome to the boards, friend!
While preferable to have done some research prior to acquisition, there are worse creatures to endure a learning curve. You're at the right place for the proper information now...get acquainted with the site's search function, & never hesitate to ask!

Hello! Always dreamed of having a friend tarantula and, after a local reptile expo this weekend, I finally decided to commit!

Got a Grammostola pulchra (my compatriot), Grammostola pulchripes, Brachypelma hamorii, Tliltocatl albopilosus (so tiny) and Aphonopelma chalcodes (even tinier)!

Just fed them for the first time last night (and they all took it – so exciting). Anyway, looking forward to a long new journey of learning, appreciation, and growing wish lists. Thanks for having me!

(Don't have a pic of the T. albopilosus because she's burrowed)
