I had a s cal just go houndini once found the cat staring at it a week later . Sadly lost to sucking stomach like issues . Mighta been wc .

It’s better to not Handel them , I only did it a few times for pics Many years ago I don’t anymore . I got allergic to the hairs .
S Cal on the loose... that's a hard pass. I'd lose a year off my life if I lost one lol. They are probably the quickest T there is, even quicker than a Pokie no?

Hahahaha the cats and dogs always find them for us!! Poor Houdini sucking stomach is sad!! I know sadly. I didn’t realize how much it worried me for the T’s safety until last week my daughter begged to hold one it was a battle not cause of biting but I didn’t want one to fall I finally set her on my bed with my calmest my G pulchripes sling he came up touched her skin with one foot and just stopped and took his leg back😂😂 so then I could say see they don’t want to touch us. And now she has stopped asking! But I was literally panicking it would fall pure heart attack!!

I know some "fast food" motivated species that do indeed need Oversized Enclosures... but I would never tell them so.
Hahahaha too funny!! I think after a molt or 2 so I can see how much he grows since mine are all slow growers I’ll give him a little extra space! He is just always moving lol idk if it’s since he’s a sling or arboreals are just more active then terrestrials? But he seems to enjoy it!

Hahaha that’s something I would do put it in a 20”😂😂 now that I did this I’m thinking he will need an upgrade within a molt of 2 he was really good he stayed on the cork bark and didn’t bolt!! lol my heart was racing worried he would “transport”😭😭
Given my first irminia almost made it out the top at a feeding, I thought the extra vertical space would give me a split second more to react. The current inhabitant is very chill and reclusive, so it’s just total wasted space.

no, they're no quicker than a Psalmo, just more skittish....tappies are even faster, probably the fastest of all.

I'm kind of intrigued after looking into them a little more. They don't get very large so a bit more manageable
Faster version of Psalmopoeus. Housing/behavior is almost identical. They're just as good at hunting and eat well, and they're pretty:

That's a nice looking T 👌 Do you put them in an 8x8x12 or could they go in something like a 6x6x9?

Wow so pretty!! I was just watching some videos on Tom’s big spiders and looks like they grow pretty fast too!! I’ll have to keep my eyes open and give one a try down the road! But I can tell those blues and purples are really nice!

Mine are in 8x8x12 Exo's. They could probably manage in a slightly smaller one, but they're so fast that you need to have the extra space for them to move around without exiting the enclosure... The girl in the pic above hangs out on the back side of that cork bark, and when I open the enclosure to feed her, she's on the front of the cork before I even finish opening the lock. Truly blink-and-you'll-miss-it fast. Give them as much enclosure size as you can afford.

Lucky I have those pics, she sealed off her cave close to 6 weeks ago. She dug it up against the glass, so I can still check in on her. Very unlike my male who made the typical web sock behind the cork bark.

My MF irminia, being super chonky and mugging for the camera:
Back when she was all fresh and svelte:

My MM irminia being all scrawny and having a rare chill moment:

Same MM, being overly dramatic about me dropping his food in the bin:

She's in an 8x8x12. I still have him in his 6x6x9, despite the incredible amount of leg, just because all he's going to do is wander... And he's already wearing out his poor little feet.
