New Cobalt (Pics)

I just got a new 3" cobalt today for $32.18, from my local petstore. This is the price they go for at the local petstores, but they usually get them in once in awhile. This is the best price I've seen on cobalts. I can't believe the Markup on T's Online. :( I was told by the Petstore Employee that I was Insane for buying this T, she said it doesn't Give you the threat pose, doesn't runaway, but charges at you when you just open the lid of it's enclosure, so far so good.

Probably because it doesn't have a burrow!

In the petstore it didn't have a burrow only about a 1/2" of an inch of bedabeast. One good thing is that it had a waterdish and they misted it's cage, but they had a water pillow in the water dish but there was still enough room for it to get water without having to suck on the sponge. They had only had it for 3weeks so I don't know if that was enough time for it to settle in a construct some sort of Burrow? I have it on 5" of potting soil right now, I haven't struck up enough courage to take him back out to add more soil

Yeah, right :)

I would love to have one, but I'm a bit apprehensive about their defensiveness. How has yours been so far?

So far it's been just like my other Haplo's I have/Had Nice and calm on minute and trying to kill you the next. I can touch them about 2 times with a pencil and on the 3rd time it's on the pencil digging it's fangs into it before I can even flinch, their attack speed is crazy, makes me feel all jittery in side when this has happened. I wouldn't recomend Any Haplo's for your first T or if you have only dealt with a rosey. There not bad if you don't mess with them though. Here is one more pic

First off, you can almost be sure that a petstore will not be keeping any Ts in ideal conditions...how long have you had it for? I would recommend building up some courage and maybe adding some more soil or perhaps some peatmoss as a top layer...and also try to start a burrow for it...and it might start diggin'

I have had it for about 6hrs now. I'm going to get it out tomorrow and add some more soil. I know petstores don't generally house the T's they have properly but this one has done the best job so far, the other 2 petstores around here don't even give their T's water dishes and keep them in deli cups. This is the only one around here that houses T's in an aquarium. I will start a burrow for it, but my haplo's only start making a burrow when they want to even if I start a burrow for it.

This is just an observation on my part...but the topsoil you have in there, while it okay as a substrate, it looks to me like it need to be broken up into smaller size to allow for burrowing...if you don't plan on adding some other substrate in the near future. She might not even be able to start a burrow. That's just what I thought to myself...

Best of luck...lividum are awesome Ts. Here's a pic of mine from a recent move. Her new enclosure is 8" deep of the same substrate in the "holding tank".

It's just the Top layer that is "Chunky" but when I start her burrow today I will smash the clumps up. I also will be adding a couple of inches to the subsrate.
