Thanks for the clarification and it still sounds that again you have gained some valuable information from the thread no matter what it was and it is appreciated you sharing rather then, as some have done ,simply jump on a thread to state how it is useless or for alternate purposes with out any validity.
Indeed. I've definitely gained something useful from this thread. I just didn't want anyone to think I don't understand plain English. ;) {D

Look at every dealer's pricelist, they just use the term CB.
Good point. If dealers want to be clear on the meaning of the terms they use perhaps they should include on their price lists a list of abbreviations they use and what they stand for. (Some do.) For buyers - if it makes a big difference to them, they should ask the dealer directly if the meaning isn't clear.

I can't really imagine any time the distinction 'CBB' is used besides talking about newer species from WC parents. Because any other time you just use CB everyone assumes they were not only captive BRED but that they were also BORN.. because obviously, you're selling them.

Look at every dealer's pricelist, they just use the term CB.

Didn't you also point out that they're using the term 'CB' improperly?

Ive heard people recommend the term CH "captive hatched".. Maybe thats more fitting, even though they dont "hatch". Would be less confusing IMO. :?

Maybe captive layed? But then people would think they were from Craigslist.. lol

CL would be in the S&M singles section of Craigslist. OK, if there is an actual section with that name I HAVE NO PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE! ;-)

As far as CH is concerned, that has been a quick thought for me but for whatever reason, just didn't sit comfortably with me. Not really a fair or intellectual reason behind it. Maybe someone else can address that. Joe? :)

To address something else that was said, honestly, on every ad I post it says CB by KAH for anything I bred myself from my own CBB babies I raised. Until these M cabocla babies came around I honestly didn't give it that much thought. But the distinction needed to be made in this case so I made it. Now, after this thread, I feel I should change the way I advertise my own babies.
If the distinction is going to be made anytime, it should be made all the time. That way we are all on the same page and there isn't anymore confusion.

As far as being a whiner and unprofessional as shadow stated, I think it's unprofessional and irresponsible not to address a situation that was clearly a confusion for a lot of people. If having a an intelligent debate/discussion about a subject that clearly is interesting to a some peope, is to difficult for you to understand, than you have the freedom to not participate. You aren't a prisoner. You clearly feel that this should been discussed "privately" so please do just that unless you are finished being insulting.

Is was stated already that hatched is a term used for the spiders actually hatching out and they still hatch out regardless of being Captive born or Captive bred and born. Therefore, I will leave it up to the dealers what they want to use. However, If anyone asks me to specify I either will distinguished by stating they are captive born only which could be CBO or Captive Bred & Born CB or CBB, but again I will leave it to the dealers on the abreviations.

Selling anything, especially a living thing, I think it is kind of cool to put a blurb anyway. You know, something describing some broad species character traits, instar, size etc. Even a picture of the mother is cool. It's easy to include the breeding information in something like that. I could understand some of the larger dealers wanting to expediate things and so being very succint on their pricelists, but I doubt I'll ever get to that point myself.
Hypothetical example:

FS: 1/4 inch Maraca cabocla, 3rd instar. These small to medium tarantulas are elegant, pretty and very docile. Though they may sprint a short distance if startled, they are not prone to flicking or other threat displays. Though somewhat slow-growing, they are aggresive eaters and develop colours at an early age. Slings are also prone to building interesting and elaborate burrows with multiple tunnels and chambers. This sac was produced on (date) from a Wild-caught mother and a breeding loan from (name's) mature male.
Then with a little thumbnail of the mother or another adult example of the species on the side.

Disclaimer: This is an example. I in no way claim to be an authority on this species, nor were the details meant to be specific to any paricular person's breeding experience. :)

I actually really like how you wrote that up. I'll have to use that. Thank you!! :)

So is the difference 'captive born from mated in the wild and female only smuggled', or 'captive born from both parents smuggled from the wild'?

For some species, especially those brought in near the beginning of the hobby, yes.;)

Some big words there

Those are some big words there, "smuggled" lol (& we have another fire starter or should I say trying to fire start LOL).

I am glad Shadow stated, "some species" because if you are using the word smuggled and imply there was an illegal smuggle of the Maraca Cabocla specie into the U.S. then you will have to take that up with the importer, but I am pretty sure that is one thing he does not like to be called after he spends the money, resources, and time to bring them in legally. All of the Maraca species were brought in legally to my knowledge including Steve and myself.

I wont even respond to burmish's nonsense response "in my opinion" other then to state we have been over this and over this and I wish he/she would read all the posts. This was not for name status lol (& we have another fire starter or should I say trying to fire start LOL) just a clarification of terms that Cori had in question and was recieveing several pm's.....I'm done now....feel like I have been on the Merry-go-round to long {D:wall: LOL

Fire Starter Explanation (If there even need be one): I always welcome an intelligant discussion, conversation, or even debate about the specie or specific content (Captive Bred or Captive Born). However, "in my opinion" terms such as "smuggled" or used for, "self titles" again are just trying to start a fire by false accusations with out factual evidence. If the words are mentioned in a general term then that should be specified, but again I take this as questioning the character and moral of the individuals bringing in, breeding, or hatching the Maraca Cabocla specie.

"Just the facts, ma'am". While "Just the facts, ma'am" has come to be known as Dragnet's catchphrase, it was never actually uttered by Joe Friday"
