I'd like to mention that this avicularia has the same red on the back legs as well, the only difference is the hairs arent condense enough to notice in the pictures, really nice.

Wow, that's gorgeous!! Is that the little redish one you had, post molt?
Indeed it was, she is beautiful, such a sweetie.

Ditto on the comments on this one Crysta, very nice Avic! The strong blue hue really makes the red marling pop out at you :D
Thanks, indeed it does!

I know this is a picture thread, but since it is Avicularia based, does an all black opisthosoma without any red hairs confirm or deny a T is an A. avicularia? I really can't find anything that describes the individual species well enough to make it easy (relatively speaking, of course) to narrow down what you might have, if you bought something labeled only as 'pink toed tarantula'.

Do you think we'd get enough responses from folks with many Avics to get a good 'how to tell what Avic you've got' thread going? I don't think we'd have a problem getting responses, but I fear we'd get a lot of responses from folks with a single Avic who might be in a similar position to me - they bought a T labeled 'pinktoe' or 'metallica' so they believe that without any proof and might simply continue to repeat it. If we could get a few Avic folks who really know the differences between the species, at least visible color differences, that might be a very beneficial thread to the membership, especially the newer members like myself.

Thoughts Avic folks? Are we probably as set as we can be with just a link to a page like THIS?

I can't see any of the forums on that site, and I joined it yesterday in hopes that that would help. All I get is this:

Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.

I suppose there is enough stuff out there right now. I don't really want to reinvent the wheel but I do think it would be nice to have something hosted here.

Hello! unfortunately I only have one T, so this thread is going to mainly be of it's feedings, growth and other interesting things.

This is my new Avicularia Metallica I picked up today, I had a Rose Hair when I was younger but then got into reptiles.. now, a few years down the road and 6 reptiles later, I am finally back in the T game!

Here is the little buddy shortly after entering his/her new home, still no name but I'm working on it!

Thanks for looking! more pictures to come.
