Here he/she is! This spider was tiny when I got it. I can handle it and it doesn't spaz out like my other slings. It needs a name.

What a cutie! I can't wait to get my slings.

As for names, those are so hard to pick out. But most of my snake names have been mythology or mineral related. Glance through some sites and see if that helps. =)

A. braunshauseni. Definitely a jumper (and avid glider). Seems more comfortable in the air than many a bird...

Not quite the "Goliath," yet; Pink Toe meets pinky:

Here's a pic I took on my phone this past week at the store. One of the cooler spider things I've ever seen. :D

I was at a pet shop looking for a water pump for a tank when I noticed a 3.5" A. avic. They had it sitting in a small critter keeper in the storefront window in the bright sun. The substrate was just pebbles from a fish tank and they had a large water dish that took up much of the floor space of the container. And that was it... The Avic was clinging to the lid of the container because it has no where else to go. There was only a small trace of a web, and this for a T that generally loves to web. It was pretty scrawny looking so I'm guessing it was underfed as well.

I took it home with me and set it up in a 5 gallon tank stood on end. I have a tube of cork bar wedged in horizontally across the top of the tank and wrapped it with silk ivy. It was not a complete tube since about 1/3 of it was missing. But the Avic took care of filling in the gap with webbing. I stood another piece of flatter cork bark vertically and slightly wedged it under the horizontal piece. Here are some shots of "Sam" and his/her new home.

Lucky T. Congratulations. I'm sure he'll reward you with the satisfaction of saving a beautiful spider.

Nice set up! If I were a T, I'd like to live there! {D
The Avic seems pretty happy with it. It's really a very mild mannered little guy. I know people say you shouldn't buy from pet shops just to discourage this kind of poor treatment of the Ts but I couldn't just leave it there. Now that it has a proper environment and a regular eating schedule it's starting to look like a really nice specimen.
