I watch along with great interest all the polls and threads about which species of spider is the most beautiful, worth the most cash etc etc.

And then I remember little Ginny, my 'dull and boring' seemanni, who would never even get a mention next to those pokies, and the beautiful and 'best'...

Well I offer this as the defence. She cost me £2, and is one of the most beautiful spiders I have ever seen. Clicking the pic is worth it for the detail... Just look at those amazing legs, and that was 4 days BEFORE a moult. Imagine what they look like now !

But I will grant you that content seemanni tend to stay very much where you can't see them, however, which is not helping me win my argument on their behalf :)

again, yep - great pics, beautiful spider... I don't spose the fact that you're so keen on the black & white is a Chiana thing is it ? Now why does 'Nerri' ring a bell there too ? :) either way - I'd have to agree...

He/she is definitely a beautiful spider, but then the Tegenaria in my tank(as well as the various 'wild 'spiders taking up residence in our house) is beautiful too!

:)

Your pictures are clear.

We need to get in and take some better pictures; you can hardly see her true colors in this one.

hmm, could be a light saber - who knows what my husband is really doing with those spiders when I'm not around, lol - thanks for the laugh!

You see the problem is, none of you have actually posted pics of the dull brown variant. You have posted pics of the more common brown phase with the strongly contrasting leg stripes, not dull or boring by any means. Flip over the second edition TKG, that picture is of the "boring" and "dull" one everyone is refering to, I own one just like it, and yes it really is my least interesting spider in every regard.

Yours doesn't strike you as dull Cerbera because it isn't. :)

Edit: Oh and VERY nice pics folks, I'm wish mine looked like those! Those are very nice looking, I've always like the looks of the blue phase, does that last the entire intermolt period, or is that just post molt coloration?

The ones I've owned have been beautifully colored, but they still get my vote for "dullest tarantula." ;)
