This appeared after her recent molt today. She is acting normal, moving fine, looks perfect everywhere else. I’ve never seen this on her before and have 0 clue as to what it is. Please let me know on ideas of what it could be or if you’ve witnessed this in other T’s- and if it’s dangerous...
...being able to use her legs well though, so even that's a pipe dream.
I did find at least one post on here from a poster who cut and drained a cyst with the tarantula "under" CO2, and then "stitched" it with superglue. He got at least one more molt out of her, but I couldn't find anything...
...are the cuticle hooks or so-called "egg teeth" (Fig. 5, green arrows) dorsal to the coxae of the palps (red arrows), which tear the chorionic cyst when the embryo hatches. According to Foelix, "hatching enzymes" from the pedipalp glands may also prepare this process. With the simultaneous...
I just posted a reply on an old thread after a long wait for my Fireleg to moult, yellow spot was suspected cyst. The advise was much the same which is wait for the moult and hope for the best. The outcome was all positive so thought I'd chime in and say fingers crossed your T shall 'shed the...
Hi Arachnoboards, I got my very first T a month ago (an A. Avic) and I have a question. I noticed this small blister (?) under the abdomen. They (I haven’t sexed it yet) have been eating fine and drinking water, should I be concerned? What exactly is it? Thanks in advance.
It looks like a injury and not a cyst. At least you now understand how much of a scam that business is. I would offer her a water dish if one isn't provided already. This is just in case the tarantula needs to drink. Is this tarantula at least capable of eating? If so it probably has a chance to...
I've had my H. spinifer for well over a year now and near where her last left leg was there was always a bulge and a black spot, like a scab. I was like well that's not ideal but nothing seemed to change until just now. I saw her out and i saw hemolymph coming out of that area and I took her out...
...Couldn't agree with you more.
It's a challenge not wanting to do experiments on, or dissect, a precious pet. I would otherwise want to probe cysts, to see if they are fully encapsulated or have any remaining connection to the systemic circulation, to take sections and look what sort of cells...
...elephants and you will find they have a heap of p53 for their size.
Sick and tired of everyone calling a spherical enlargement a TUMOR. It could be a fluid filled space ie cyst. I believe it to be fluid filled because Ts have an open circulatory system. Perhaps their circulation goes out of...
...weeks) to try and prevent any additional stress on her exoskeleton. I've been very upset and concerned since I noticed how much bigger it's gotten recently. I'm hoping that she'll molt out of it but I'm not sure. I hope it's not a cyst or tumor of some kind. I was hoping I could get some advice.
...recover in peace. She's even got a bald patch on her side from kicking hairs due to stress, I seriously thought she was dying yesterday. The moult must have caused the issue as she was fine beforehand, the weird thing is that the moult is in perfect condition so don't know how the cyst developed.
...one of her legs; specifically her front right leg had been 'limp' and is incapable of moving. The causation of this looks to be some type of cyst that has developed on her knee and has been the target of gnats that have since laid larvae onto the wound. Distressed by this, she has since been...
Looks like a cyst to me too, and it could be caused by one of those splinters... That substrate is the worst substrate you can put to any T, the T is walking in a substrate made of needles waiting to bet punctured.
Change the substrate to a proper one, topsoil, coco fiber... etc and rearrange...
Oh yeah that's absolutely a cyst now you have a better photo.
Would need to see other individual shots of each enclosure and what species they are to pass comment on if they are set up OK. Feel free to do that if you like
