I just ordered a tarantula off backwater reptiles now realizing it's not a reputable website and I noticed a black scab with redness around it that was oozing, I look at reviews online and realized it's a complete scam and I don't think it's worth paying $80 to ship it back and get a new one that will probably be either sick or dead, now I am trying to figure out what this scab could be and if I should just wait for a molt or what I could do to help it, HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! Looks like an infected booklung... You could try using a water-based antiseptic for a period of time to see if it clears up, but yeah, it's probably been caused by previous mould issues. I'm so sorry OP, I'm not really sure what to suggest in terms of money etc. Just make sure they have a fresh water dish and... Hope. :depressed:

It looks like a injury and not a cyst. At least you now understand how much of a scam that business is. I would offer her a water dish if one isn't provided already. This is just in case the tarantula needs to drink. Is this tarantula at least capable of eating? If so it probably has a chance to live if the injury can heal up.

I don't see any bleeding and the tarantula seems to grooming itself, so it at least isn't on its last legs. I believe a recover may be possible. But who knows for sure.

Did you pay by credit card? If you did call them tell them you received a defective product

I do it all the time

Hey,
You didn’t do anything wrong, but just a word of advice: don’t ever order from backwater again. That are known for selling sick animals kept in horrible conditions. People call them “slackwater” for a reason! Instead, try and get your next T from somewhere like Fear Not Tarantulas or Eresus Spider Shop. Try to give the T some water. Good luck with the T, I hope it makes it!

I'm not sure how you paid. If it was PayPal, it's worth opening up a dispute as item not described. Give it a go if you paid this way
