I agree with above posters. Loan him out to someone nearby who has a mature female. Let him fulfill his life cycle. That way you can raise his children once he has passed away. The only thing to bare in mind is that not all males walk away from a pairing. But honestly at this point, his only two options are to risk his life mating, or to die of old age/starvation. In some ways, a hungry female sounds like a better way to go to me.
