vitatta is the one without yellow underarms, with vitatta its more of a creamy off white.

you wont be likely to determine striata or regalis ventrally.

@Venom1080 Yea the light banding on the legs was the one thing that made me think it was a possible hybrid.. The black against the yellow usually pops pretty well.. Alot can change in a molt as you have mentioned. Most at 5 inches have strongly contrasting bands though.. Sort of a tough one.

At OP Like I had said before I think striata but the more I look at your spider the more I think it might have something else in there as well..

@14pokies I think regalis. Look at their abdomen, they have the abdominal band that is specific to regalis if I'm not badly mistaken.

@miss moxie striata have a light belly band as well. It goes away with age. It's not nearly as noticable as the band that regalis have.

Not that I'm saying it doesn't have some regalis genes because it may..

@cold blood yup it's just not nearly as pronounced on striata and if the leg patterns are matching up to regalis as the OP has stated than it's striata because they have the same leg patterns..

I don't want to say yes it's striata 100% and have him potentially create muts.. It looks alot like striata but the contrast in coloring on the legs is off.That's about it though.. Could be age or where it's at in it's molting cycle.. Or it may be a mut. Lol.. I'm not a taxonomist just a fat old guy that loves pokies ...

@cold blood @14pokies Ahhhh then what's the story with the regalis belly band? Does it go away, stay, vary from specimen?

regalis always have it, striata sometimes have it, and often lose it, but I don't believe they always lose it, its just not as pronounced.

thanks for all the info. i wont be breeding her anyway, so i will just call her a striata ill post a thread when she molts. maybe the colors or belly band will be clearer then.
