I bought this tarantula a month ago,the guy who sold to me said it was a t.blondi, but i am not sure because the tarantula is not brown!btw can you tell if it a female?!Thanx!
The very round shape of the cephalothorax strongly indicates its a Blondi, the black type one. Not only that, but the thickness of the legs and the format of the abdomen, and the exuberance of its overall appearance, all these conveys the firm impression its a Blondi. We can never state it cathegorically, of course. Try to annoy it a little bit, if it raises its front legs menacingly and hisses, its a Blondi. Congratulations then
First. the tarantula on the picture is clearly belongs to the genus Theraphosa. THat's true.
Second. if go to black form of T. blondi - it's fake - no any color forms of this species existed.
Second, if we need to specify the genus to species - we should look for the coxa of leg I - does it possess the clearly seen stridulating bristles or not.
If You saw the definate patch of setae - it's T. apophysis, if not - T. blondi.
