So I bred another one of my C. bicolor females tonight, it started off rough due to a small mishap, but turned out just fine. At this point now I believe I have two gravid females. And so it begins, I was transfering the lucky couple to the breeding container I had setup for them, but before I...

Another unexpected Courtship Dance with Orthochirus negebensis. how to reproduce it?

Echoing what others have said in this thread, house them together, provide a substrate and plenty of options for the male to deposit his spermatophore (i.e. bark, rocks, some broken pottery shards). Cool video and cool species. Never seen a mating attempt with no substrate, in a vial, that's...

Thanks for the info G. Carnell... Mine do the exact same thing :) Yep it does sound like they are just slow growers. No need to apologize! Most the info available on these guys is in German, which I don't speak, so I've just been sort of relying on my experience with other similar...

I've only had them for about 3 weeks so I don't have any information on their growth rate yet. They've been eating like pigs since I got them though, and I'm keeping their temps in the higher range, so we shall see. You're right, they are a very beautiful species. I must admit though I was...

Thanks for the well wishes. I had great success back in the day with similar Centruroides species in regards to breeding projects so I'm fairly confident. Still though, I've got my fingers crossed, you know what they say about counting your chickens before they hatch and all that. And in the...

Understandable. They were a species that has been on my wishlist for almost decade. So I had a lot of hype/anticipation built up in my head about them. I must say they have lived up to the hype for me, maybe even surpassed it. I have a breeding group going, so with a little luck I'll have some...

Definitely B. jacksoni, if the females you have aren't gravid they will be shortly so long as you house them communally.

Some Orthochirus scrobiculosus negebensis that i found in Thursday: 2 adult dance, and 1 clawless..

Well, my Israeli friend came back with no specimens, or photos... then again he is rather timid and afraid of anything that can bite/sting. Awesome ecosystem photos. Awesome. :worship:

Some Orthochirus scrobiculosus negebensis that i found in Thursday: 2 adult dance, and 1 clawless..

One of my friends is on vacation in Israel for Passover. I told him to try and find some scorpions to photograph for me. I forgot to mention how small OSN's are to him though {D Either ways, good looking specimens. A very fun and unique species to keep as well.

    advice on scorplings needed

Once they come off the mom's back, gently transfer them to a humid container of nothing but moist paper towels, a few dry ones, and maybe some cork bark. throw in either some fruit flies OR my favorite, a prekilled and sliced up adult cricket. Give them 2 days to eat it, and then pull the...

    Just a really rad story

That IS awesome. I love that species more than a ton of others I kept. I wish I would have had mine until maturity. Always wanted to breed them. Are they "back" in the hobby again? they were hard to find for a while. if anyone has a good dealer offering adults or instars please PM me.

THIS SUCK!!! My H.Arizonensis passed away...

Well, I am sorry for your loss. But at the same time I am glad to see more people preserving their deceased scorps... i hesitate to call them specimens, although that is what I refer to them as these days. Something can always be learned from a preserved specimen in the future (even instars!)...

    The Plan- Farewell for now...

nothing wrong with taking a break. i had and bred more species of scorpions than anyone in the U.S. i have met, and had to take an entire year off (possibly more in the future). The good thing about this hobby is that if you make good friends and come back, they are very welcoming. Best of luck!

THIS SUCK!!! My H.Arizonensis passed away...

This might sound harsh. But, if you haven't thrown her away yet, try and preserve her in a jar. I currently have more preserved specimens than I do live ones :o Sad, but trust me, you will be glad.

    Emperor Scorpion

Very true. They are slow growers but are the "longest" species I know of, not very "bulky" though. Mild venom too.
