When I moved from France to Martinique I packed my 9 Ts and put them in my suitcase. They all made it alright.

I also live in a country with strict T laws. That didn't stop me but I risk actual jail time and a hefty fine for my small collection. Not sure what the penalties are in NZ. Might be worth it if it's just a reasonable fine.

Makes you wonder... Don't they research anything before they start selling a new kind of pet? At least they're feeding it crickets and not carrots. You did well.

Can you really blame them? I mean, how do you stop buying Ts exactly?

My adult female Monocentropus balfouri needed deeper substrate. She was in a nice enough enclosure, but the thin layer of coco fiber she was on made it impossible for her to burrow. She was clearly upset and that made me uncomfortable. I made her a new home, bigger, plenty of anchoring points...

I love my tarantulas, yet I'm far more disturbed by dog fights. The Japanese bug fights annoy me but they don't break my heart.

I paid 69€ for an adult female. But that's from a German breeder. Ts seem so expensive in the states.

I did more research. Turns out this caterpillar isn't poisonous but it's got a nasty bite when bothered. I'm not risking it with my tarantulas.
