Hello Mastigoproctus;
to say that like other pedes have similar behaviour under water as S. paradoxa or S. cataracta, not means that there are not other pedes that can do the same. S. paradoxa has been found several times in the wild under water for at last 20 minutes or longer. S. cataracta...
He he he...New. Sp. Is a taxonomical term that just means "new to sciences". Of course the locals known the species before sciencies but they didnt know it was "new" or they dont care.
Thanks

Ok, wait, not every male Scolopendra species have gonopods (i.e. S. multidens and S. hainanum). Are you sure about that S. galapagoensis hat it? In other hand the best thig is to look for othe parts like genital sternit 2 and spining organ, only present in males, and a constant it think in...
Hey! In Ethmostigmus, at last in E. trigonopodus, there is not gonopods like you can see in S. suspinipes (for example y S. hainanum there is not gonopods neither), so you must see another structures in genitalia that allow you to determine sex in the pede.
I didn't now to much about this...
Yes i did, but they are too large to upload here... do you have some pictures (i tryed to find it in the boards but i didn't find anything and i remember that somoone uploaded some pictures here.
Cheers
Carles
I pretend to sex my ethmostigmus using a gas chamber... but I don't know what I relly muss to see in it. I have already seen some ethmostigmus under the skirt but i don't know which strutures difference the males than females.
Some help please?
Cheers
Carles
I'm agree with the parters.
In thi other hand, you have to know that your pede is a Scolopendra dehanni. Take a look to a proper care according the correct labeled specie.
