Anyone watch Lost last night? Sp. Ident

It certainly bothered me. Fact is, this island is nuts. They should have had the spider to be one of the "new species" he has found of various wild life. As opposed to claiming it to be an existing species and using latrodectus. But the real issue here is the fact that this was a terrible...

Anyone watch Lost last night? Sp. Ident

They called the spider that bit those two people to be latrodectus, but I know that was no frigging latrodectus, I was thinking argiope, based on how I remember it looking, but I dont think it had distinct leg sets like they have. anyhoo... jes curious if anyone identified it.

    a question about compatability.

The knife at adult size should be fine with shovelnose. But the rubber eel would not be for sure. Nor would a bichir, which by the way I also love. You seem to be into the same type of fish as I am, I love the odd balls! I have 2 Erpetoichthys calabaricus and a Gnathonemus petersi in my 90...

    a question about compatability.

LEt me start by first asking a question; You are aware the the tiger shovel nose catfish reaches lengths of four feet, right? A 75 gallon will hold it for its first year of life and will need at least a 10 foot tank by 4 feet wide after that. As to teh rubber eel, it will be fien with...

    Aquarium Question

I agree with the LPacker said. You need at least a four foot tank for adult oscars and I would say twenty gallons per oscar and heavy filtration. If you had say a 90 gallon (48x18x24) you could do five if you had an emperor 400 hanging filter as well as an eheim or fluval under the tank that...

Something cool to fill up a 90 gal

Do you think 260 watts is to much for the tank? And that was my assumption (about the plants breaking it all down) but my buddy read a book on mantellas and said that they need to be cleaned daily or every other day at the least and every plant needs to have its leaves cleaned. So white...

Something cool to fill up a 90 gal

Thanks I keep planted FW aquariums which require high light and husbandry. I have done a lot of research on keeping terrariums and alot of the principles are the same... except alot less work. Little to no trimming and propogating, no expensive Co2 equip and monitors etc... Plus I have a...

Something cool to fill up a 90 gal

Hey Mike, Would you say a 90 is large enough for this? Do you have experience yourself in keeping these lil guys?

Something cool to fill up a 90 gal

Yeah, please do. So this was a big colony with multiple species? I have heard this is frowned upon... I guess it doesnt matter if you arent going to sell the hybrid offspring and you have species that can get along all right. For those with experience; How many could I fit comfortably in a 90?

Something cool to fill up a 90 gal

Yeah... I didnt assume they would fit. They get what, 6 feet or so? Are there any other good 'pet" monitors that could live happily in a 90? (4 feet in length by two feet high and I think 18 inches wide) By pet I mean that they have a decent disposition...

Something cool to fill up a 90 gal

Indeed I have and I really want some... but guven that I have VERY limited space I need to make sure that I get the best possible animal(s) for the tank.... I like the idea of the other stuff I mentioned and want ideas for others...

Something cool to fill up a 90 gal

best suggestion ever! non-fish folks... I should have mentioned. The reason why I am considering dumping one of my fish tanks is because I am getting a little sick of caring for all these large tanks.

Something cool to fill up a 90 gal

other things I have kicked around the ol noggin are a pair of Elaphne Taeniura or set up a nice terrarium and do a group of dart frogs (I have read that some species are quite communal where others arent...)

Something cool to fill up a 90 gal

Give me suggestions. I am probably freeing up one of my 90 gal fish tanks and am trying to think of something cool to throw in there... communal maybe... a pair of something mayhaps... or just a solitary decent sized animal... hit me with suggestions! my initial thought was a pair of...

This was my VERY FIRST POST IN THIS THREAD!!!! So tell me how this wasnt my point from the beginning? Please. And tell me how I am an irrational thinking individual. I have no doubt of yoru competancy. And I apologized for judging YOU earlier. Mike has been my issue this entire thread.

    Some cobra pix

Hey Mike, <edit> Just because I have never kept hot reptiles does not mean my desire to feel safe is invalid. Dan, You basically said what I meant. What is wrong with the idea of a licensing system? If you love these animals so much why not get a license to keep them? Something...

    Some cobra pix

I can only speak on my personal feelings. If you are saying that they are just as dangerous as a cobra then maybe they should be lumped together. However I am fairly certain that there are far less B.P. deaths in any given year than cobras. Considering that tens of thousands die each year...
