I could imagine it's possible with anything that lays eggs, but you think tarantulas have their own sort of menapause? (I'm MOSTLY not kidding) What I mean to say, maybe they can run out of eggs... I know even queen bees can't lay great amounts of eggs their whole life. Fortunately, female tarantulas don't have workers going behind their back and creating new queens to overthrow her.

I can't remember if I'm now mixing her up with Sammy or not, but has Zilla ever laid a sac? Great, now I have to go through 100+ of robc vids!! :?

Bummer on the "no sac" but congrats on the molt. Out of curiousity, how big is your Laisodora parahybana?
I think your Zilla should be able to grow more. Shes not that old is she?

When does that girl get her own bedroom :D

Does anyone else think that the possibility of her being sterile and her impressive size may be connected?

I know females that don't get mated can and do produce eggs anyway. If this one is using all of her calories exclusively for growth, you may end up with a one in a million monster size tarantula there....

Congrats on the molt. I had a 8" female but she had a bad molt and died. I plan on getting another very soon.

Well she gained a lot of size, and i mean a lot!!! her back leg was in the back of the den, her front leg was nearlly touching the glass, that is 11"+...i will NOT confirm that until I get a measurement, her carpace is over 1/2" wider!!

Sweet, get one of those craft measure mats from Michaels or something and get her to walk across and then take pics. It is worth the $5-$15;)

That would be amazing!!!!

Also how old do you think she is?

EDIT: I just researched the world record size of the T blondi and it states 13 inches. So it may be a while before breaking that.

If you happen to beat the world record, would you try to get into the book?

Are you serious? You have to know the answer to this....
