I am wondering what kind of tarantulas are yellow and black. I have seen a couple adult pokies that look yellow and black but then other pics where they have no yellow.

Edit: Also almost forgot about Encyocratella olivacea. They seem to range in shades but some are pretty close to yellow.

Tbh, I was considering one of those but I really want to limit the hair kickers haha. I have two LPs atm.

Pretty sure P.Subfusca "Lowland" is the black and gold pokie you're after, and also probably my favorite pokie too for appearance. I think Harpactira Pulchripes is another sought of yellow and black one

My female P ornata has amazing yellow bands on the underside of her legs but she’s not really black...

I have H.Pulchripes sling and it is already beautiful! I do have the lowland one on my list to buy next. I really want a p.rufilata but I can not find any for sale atm. (I am in Canada)

You have house geckos there >> and a lot of cool animals native. I do feel lucky tho. My uncle once gave me a mouse spider or something from Australia when I was a kid. I am not sure the genus since...I was like 8. It was in a glass cage thing up above where I could reach (I probably could if I wanted to tbh) and my dad was the one that would feed it. Pretty sure it was pretty venomous and I have no clue how my uncle got it. Tbh my uncle always managed to find the weirdest things.

It was definitely alot easier to smuggle stuff back in the day, but damn thats a rare find even for here!

To stay on topic tho, i remembered another sought of yellow one, a few photos are floating around of a T called Phlogius sp. "Saturn Red" or similar. That one had very light orange/yellow colours

Yea thats one of the photos i remember of Saturn Red.

Not sure if that taxidermed one is an Aussie native because yes, all our known ones are various shades of brown, red or grey. This is my Crassipes, definitely not the yellow you're after

Some do have yellow a bit, but not a lot. There's no canary/primary yellow T out there. Splashes of yellow thats all you'll find.

It depends to what degree you mean. I have a stunning (they all are) Poecilotheria ornata juvenile that has definitely got yellow and black on her. But I wouldn't call her a yellow and black tarantula.

Haplopelma sp Bach Ma is more gold than yellow but you could argue that. The black though?

Harpactira pulchripes is definitely gold with a little bit of black and of course those blue legs.

I'd say my Brachypelma hamorii had yellow tones on her and of course black but again I wouldn't consider her yellow and black.

However an edited pic of a Grammostola pulchra will give you what you're after.

I suppose Hapalopus sp. Colombia is black and yellowish, a little on the orangey pumpkin side but the closest I can get to a ‘base shade of yellow with black markings’ T.

Theraphosidae sp. "Panama" might have some of what you're after. I have trouble differentiating between tan, yellow, and gold however, so that may not be what your looking for.

Thanks,

G. pulchripes (regarding the hair-kicker comment, mine never has, in fact, none of my Grammos ever have IIRC)
They all have the potential too. (My LP's have not since they are babies). Tbh, the species has been capturing my eye lately. I already placed an order with someone for other t's and I do regret a bit not getting one.

N incei olive color is a greenish yellow and black as they get bigger. No urticating hairs and stay pretty small as a bonus, so you can have a bunch!
