Who molted today?

Just saw this and checking to see if you T is okay?

Oh yes!
As I said I managed to get the bulk of the moult off, turns out it was only stuck in one spot.
See photo.
I did use a wet brush to attempt to get the rest off(see photo) but the poor thing was kicking hairs and I decided to let it rest.
30 minutes later it was snacking on the stuck bits of moult!
Serves me right for not trusting my tarantula to tarantula!

Sometimes they do need a wee bit of help and you providing moisture to that stuck area very well may have helped. The main concern with exuvia stuck at the rear is making sure the anus isn’t blocked.

I believe that bald spot is actually where the moult was stuck. And yes my primary concern was making sure the anus was clear and the carapace of the cephelothorax was not still attached.

My concern there is that it looks similar to a cyst. May not be, but I’d just keep an eye on the area and reduce feedings if you suspect that it is. Even if a bit of the carapace is still stuck, the spider will be fine. Your main areas of concern are the chelicerae (at least one fang completely clear), lungs, anus and the sucking stomach. All the best to you and your T.

Well well well, coincidentally , shortly after I'd commented on another moult, one of mine popped up in a new set of clothes!

Difficult to get a decent picture, but here's my freshly moulted subadult female Brachypelma albiceps - sitting proudly on top of her moult.

So did one of mine My P. Cambridgei molted again after I just realized he is probably a she. Hopefully I can get some confirmation on what I got in that enclosure soon

FINALLY completed my entire backlog of molts to sex. The petri dishes are all mounted molts of newly verified females (I don't mount male molts as there's no point IMO). From this effort, I've managed to lock in quite a few projects for the future:

  • Brings the breeding group to 1.3 for the future

Tliltocatl vagans female must have molted in the last few days.

Not today, but very recently my 3/4” H. Pulchripes sling decided to moult while I was at work, and I came home to a very tiny, mangled exuvia, and a bigger, brighter, roughly 1-1.25” DLS H. Pulchripes. I love the colours, even as a sling. First picture is pre moult, second is post.

Two days after my B albiceps moulted (above), I came home from work to catch my B emilia in the act!

As you can see, she's just about achieved it and I expect her to flip back upright soon these are exciting times, as she was a stunner right up until today, so post-moult should be something to behold!
