eventually when i get more experience, im going to get a metallica and a cobalt blue posible a mexican red knee too
Haha welcome to this addictive hobby :D

I started out with two communals of pokies, with 10 in each. Didn't feed them enough tho, so ended up with a few big ones ;) (they were a gift, and you don't turn a gift like that down lol).

You might want to learn the scientific names for these tarantulas you like. It's a MUCH clearer way to identify which ones you're talking about on here. Also, it's cool to be able to go into the petstore and say something like, "I'd like the A. geniculata in the 3rd tank over, please. **big smile** "

At pet stores, you can also ask to see, or to have them check their order sheets to make sure that "Brazilian white-knee" really IS an A. geniculata or if it's actually something else that looks similar (like N. chromatus). The order sheet should list both the scientific and common name. In any case, it will save you the trouble of getting home with a tarantula that turns out to be different from the one you really wanted.

I am going to catch serious %$# for this but I would get a P. regalis it was my second T I ever got and now we are at over 50. I know pokies are a hot species but regalis are the most docile as a species goes with pokies(excluding P. metallica due to cost). I feel any T can be kept with proper research.

I know the scientific names, but i dont bother cuz i hate spelling them, and the pet store goes by common name so thats why i said that.

Yeah I know, whenever I talk about the ones I have I get specific, for example when I refer to Dante I said a. Avicularia not just avicularia. The pet store isn't specfic, what I know is I want the brazillian white knee that the store has because they are gorgeous :D but yeah I'll be more specific from now on ;)

Hope you didn't mean my last post about the A. versicolor. I was just suggesting more future T possibilities.

Oh, please don't take my post like that! I didn't know that you knew the scientific names. I've just found that it helps because pet stores tend to name tarantulas with whatever common name they please. "Brazilian white-knee" at one store might be "Stripe-legged birdeater" at the next. The worst I've seen was a "tiger rump." One person could buy a "tiger rump" and get a C. fasciatum and another person could buy a "tiger rump" and get a H. vonwirthi!

I was only trying to caution you about asking to see the pet store's records of what they bought before YOU bought it...to make sure you were getting what you thought. :) That's all.

Cyclosternum fasciatum is gorgeous as well except, from my research, they seem pretty agressive. My pet store does supply these

Well yeah I do know the scientific names for A LOT of Ts I just need to get into the habit of using them haha. My supplier has a list of Ts with their common and scientific name. The last thing I want is the wrong species lol

Not so much defensive they are mostly skittish, like to kick hairs a lot. They are hard hitting eaters and great to watch. Not to mention they have beautiful color.
