Opossums named after controlled substances have good theories.
If seeing is believing, then most spiders are skeptics.

Skepticism is a virtue in history and in philosophy. -- Napoleon Bonaparte

The legend goes that, after suffering setbacks in war, he was sitting in cave watching a spider.
The spider lost its footing and fell over and over again, but always climbed back up to try another time.
Eventually it succeeded in building its web.
From the spider's tenacity, he drew inspiration never to give up the fight.
(That's really a story legendarily told Robert the Bruce, but sometimes wrongly attributed to Napoleon.)

Napoleon's gray or blue-gray eyes saw many victories, but unlike jumping spiders, he could not focus his eyes by moving their retinas.
He won the nighttime Battle of Wagram, though he lacked the superior night vision of Deinopis, whose posterior medial eyes can reportedly concentrate light better than a cat's or an owl's.

'Napoleon' would be a great name for your pet tarantula, and if he's ever not happy to see you, take solace in the fact that he probably just doesn't see you 👍

Maybe arboreals and jumpers developed better vision because depth of field is more important to their lifestyle.

It helps to be able to see where you are aiming to jump to, for example. Just a theory, I have no idea if it holds water.
Do you have any arboreal? Do they follow you like jumping spiders?
