I have this Poecilotheria sp., and I'm not sure on which species it could be. If you could guess I'd be so thankful.
The specimen is about 2,75'' inches, and the guy who gave it to me told me that it could be a female.

Thanks in advance!

P. subfusca? striata? fasciata?
Just a guess. I never get Id questions right {D
I am leaning toward fasciata though.
Ok fasciata is my final answer. :D

The guy said exactly this to me: "I think it's a P. regalis female"

But I don't think that that is a P. regalis :embarrassed:

its not a regalis, I can tell by the patterns on the legs, go to the link where it has the carapace identification sheet, that should help. i am pretty sure it is a pederseni.

a pic of the underside would help get an id.but to me it almost looks like formoso or miranda

Even him "giving" you a formosa is a bit of a reach. Those are not exactly everywhere to be found.
Unless he mislabled something, and in that case congrats to you! Wish that would happen to me. :D

My first two guesses were P. formosa or P. pederseni....since I spent a couple of hours perusing the Pokie photo gallery last night.

P. miranda it's fairly expensive too, so I don't think it's that species either.. P. formosa it's possible, but I don't know...

Oh sorry I never read the part where it said that it was given to him, though my guess wouldn't be far off just judging by patterns and characteristics. It's definately not a regalis 100%.

tigrinawesseli and formosa are two of the rarest behind smithi and mettalica(from what I can tell, don't get all wound up over this ). If he did give it to you, then you saved yourself a lot of money. I still stand behind pederseni though.

The guy who sent it to me it's from Europe.

I'll try to take some other pics when I have the chance...

But, at least, I can be sure it's not a P. regalis...
