I can't understand why certain people needs an advice for something like that. Or, not related to T's at all, advices in general for things like that.

I mean, even if I don't like too much (on a personal opinion) the: "What's your T's name/s" threads, nothing wrong with that. If someone loves to give to his/her Theraphosidae a name, it's fine. Really.

But reaching the point to start a thread for asking something like that? Use your fantasy, imagination, culture etc, Christ. You will ask completely strangers, tomorrow, "What's a good name for my son/daughter?" even, uhm?

I just numerate them - G. porteri #1, #2, etc.

Do you watch Game of Thrones? With the new season coming up, do something from there! A pet rock could be named Sansa. You know, doesn't do a whole lot :D
I have 3 LP slings names after the three dragons from Game of Thrones, probably my favorite names out of any T's in my collection. Agree with the Sansa comment too. :D

Ya I'm the weirdo that names her house plants and her fish....if it's living and in my home,it gets a name.:embarrassed:
Okay then , call it Jorogumo . It's Japanese for a mythical spider that could shapeshift into a seductive woman .

Some of my dorky names for my brood. Note some I don't have listed in this app, basically any sling under 1" hasn't earned a spot yet and I have about another 25 or so in that category

Calypso - to hide, to conceal. Plus, Calypso was a beautiful goddess. Hiding a cranky attitude under a beautiful exterior.
One of my E. campestratus is Calypso. They aren't cranky, though.

One of my clients named her car :) She claims that she dislikes the vehicle, but I know deep down she loves it lol

I've got a South Park theme with my collection, so I'd go with Wendy Testaburger.

Actually I have a son, never asked anyone but his father what we should name him. Same with my other pets. It was an in house decision.
Only when I ask in house what we should name the T I get told "call her spider. It's not like she can understand. It's just a spider."
I understand that logic,I do. But to me,I just name everything living in my home. It's how I do it.
My man makes fun of me for naming the fish and plants. I live with that,as I do understand it's a tad weird lol
But it's how I do things,I name them to connect them to my life for keeps. I also remember every animal I've loved by their name. 10+yrs later I can still tell you every single animal I've owned and loved by their name and temperament.
So I figured I'd ask here with people that understand the love of tarantulas. Where they're not JUST a spider that lives in a tank that you look at occasionally..
But I honestly can't pick a name. I'm stuck.
So when I ask in my real life for people's opinions,I get no help. It's just a spider,so no need for a name I'm told.
So ya....sue me for wanting to ask what I should name her...don't like the post....move along. I never asked you to read it and the title explains what the topic is about. So you didn't even have to enter the thread if it's a topic you don't see the point of.

So I don't get negative comments. When it's just easier for you to scroll on by.

But continuing on to the names....I'm liking Gita,Sansa, calypso,Scarlett and surprisingly Jurogumo(juro for short).
So thank you for those actually trying to help, instead of pretty much rolling their eyes at me. I appreciate it.
As I feel I'm getting closer to the name that'll be her's for me to always remember her by. Cuz in this heart, every living thing is loved and remembered by their name. Even if it's JUST a spider in a tank.

Everyone in my house gets named too. I get that. These are just suggestions based on how I decide on a name.
Colours. My black cat is Nigel - Nigel comes from the word Niger, which means black. My two unsexed G. pulchra are Onyx and Raven.
Romans. My marmalade tabby is Cassius (named after Cassius Clay), my G. pulchripes brother and sister are Brutus and Portia (husband and wife). My Emperor Scorpion is Marcus Aurelius... who was a Roman Emperor. Roman names are huge with me because I am a big Roman history buff.
Classic names are a big one for me. I don't go for names that are trendy or are of characters in current trendy movies and shows. Just a personal preference. I prefer things like Emily and Ophelia and Evelyn.
My arboreal tarantulas are named after trees - Juniper, Willow and Aspen.
Gender neutral names are a tough one for me and I have a lot of spiderlings who are unsexed. That is where I use places or words... Tivoli, Marquee, Orion, Graffiti, Calypso, Mystic, Totem, Sprite.
Whenever I hear, or read, a name that I like - I write it down. I know that I will use it someday.

I'm sorry if you viewed my comment as "negative" because that wasn't my intention, nor my goal was to mock or offend anyone (sorry, btw if you were offended by what I've said).

As I've said... pets, plants, whatever... doesn't matter if someone decide to give a name to those. Their/Your choice, at the end. I'm not here to say "good" or "wrong" nor to judge.

I've only said that, for my views about, it's a bit odd that someone needs to ask others for something like that, when there's, literally, millions of choice 'ready at hand' just giving only a bit of "green light" to imagination, fantasy etc

That was my opinion only.
