What may be a good name for my YouTube channel?

I'm delighted to announce that I may soon be joining the ranks of the invert YouTubers. Previously, I have uploaded poorly shot videos of my old S. morsitans being handled, most of which were only a little over a minute long. Now, with my large-ish E. rubripes calming down rapidly, I think I'm ready to return to YouTube with a vengeance. I will attempt to further spread centipedes in the hobby in order to encourage captive breeding, reduce the pressure on wild populations, and hopefully change their image. For now, with only one large pede in convenient access (the rest are at my Dad's place), I imagine they will mostly revolve around handling, and my opinion on the topic (don't worry, there'll be plenty of disclaimers). In future, I intend to make videos on basic care, sexing, breeding and perhaps collecting centipedes, in addition to some other inverts, as well as funny videos such as hate mail readings (got the idea from Richard Dawkins). I already have a very good camera, and all I really need is a stand.

Anyway, do you guys have any ideas for a name for my channel? I understand "Staehilomyces" would be recognizable, but I don't feel like using it for two reasons: firstly, that it is misspelled (Staheliomyces is the correct spelling), and secondly, that Staheliomyces is a genus of fungus, and as such, is not really related to inverts. I want a name that is original i.e. not Scolopendra, and something that places no emphasis on fear, darkness or danger.

Real Life Centipedes

Or something that sounds a touch serious. Even though you want to bring a lightness, you want to portray the educated aspect from which you are coming. IMHO

That's the kind of genre I was looking for. Even though some of my videos would have a light hearted, entertaining aspect to them, I want a generally serious, informative title and channel overall.

Will this channel primarily be about centipedes (or other myriapods)? I like plays on words.
  • Arthropals
  • Arthropodium
  • Centient/Centience
  • Chilology
  • Chilophilia
  • Myrialogy
  • Myriaphilia
  • Pedegree

I like the sound of a fair few of those. My channel will be mostly centered on centipedes, but I may feature other inverts should I obtain them, namely scorpions, tarantulas, giant huntsmen and red triangle slugs (Triboniphorus graeffei). Currently the only non centipede invert I own is a female Urodacus novaehollandiae scorpion, who will likely be featured as well on occasion.

"Poisoness insects" seems appropriate given your last story or the centipede rangler

I like the wrangler! Although it might sound a bit like you are ready to fight.

Thanks for all the ideas guys! I've decided to name my channel "Planet Scolopendra". @Camman1983 I have that name reserved for a tiger Ethmostigmus rubripes should I obtain one. Btw, just found out you are also in Australia. Great to see more keepers from down under on here.

In addition, I would also like to know whether getting recognition on YT is going to make it easier to obtain inverts. The reason I'm asking/hoping this is that many of the Tarantula Youtubers tend to get sent a lot of inverts as "presents". I know The Dark Den was sent a Dehaani. Also, there is an Australian wildlife photographer who has an inactive account here (richoman3), who, after becoming a well known centipede expert, found himself getting sent many live specimens, some without him even asking for them. Does anyone else think gaining an internet platform would help me obtain more inverts?

Just my 2c but I think you might be restricting your audience a bit with the scolopendra reference. Which is fine if it's going to be aimed at the scientific community or existing centipede enthusiasts. But if it's going to contain more of an educational or introductory to the hobby type content you can probably broaden your audience by going with a title that's a little more common tongue and relatable for someone with no prior knowledge. (I say this because I just had to google scolpendra to find out what is) Either way I'm on board to be a follower.

I'm never buying short-legged centipedes again. Every single one of them has been a pet hole, and almost impossible to socialize as a result. On the plus side, I may possibly be getting a tiger rubripes very soon (a few days perhaps), and they are much more active than the short-legged variants of the same species (plus they're larger), so it will be a much more impressive subject for my channel. The only downside is that I don't want my mother seeing it and finding out I handle centipedes. She already knows I plan to make a YT channel, but hopefully she won't ask to watch my videos. She only seems to care about the money I might make out of YT anyway.

Why? You're old enough to choose what's right and what's wrong, even if you get bitten, YOU will feel pain and not she. Anyway centipede a are not deadly if you are not allergic to them

I know. Normally, I'd try to sit down and have a decent talk, telling her I'm experienced at handling centipedes, and that I fully accept the possibility of a bite. However, I think I'm lucky enough to have a mother who would let me keep centipedes in the house; most won't even let people keep tarantulas. I don't think I want to push her.

To be honest, the thing I feel like I most need to talk to her about is her tendency to want me to move on from things, and make every one of my hobbies into something bigger. She doesn't seem to be able to comprehend the fact that I would be satisfied with just making videos on centipedes and other inverts for my channel. She has a rather annoying philosophy of "OK, you're good at that now. You know what it feels like, so go do something new". Not to mention that, while I care more about changing people's perspectives, she only seems to care about how much money I make.

Well to make money you need some sort of views, around 30000 for a common day payment (20$)? Also you need those 10min videos for the extra YouTube money

Personally, I don't really care about the money (I'm 16 anyway). I just want to change people's views. After looking at all the comments on The Dark Den's and other T youtubers' channels, saying how they're helping them to get over their fears of spiders, I really want to do the same thing for centipedes.
