As tarantula enthusiasts, I am sure we can all appreciate the beauty of each animal, whether they have flashy colors or a certain understated elegance, whether they are bulky, or pretty and petite.

However, I am sure everyone here has their own preferences... and as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Are there any Ts that you personally don't like the looks of? There are a million threads on "most beautiful Ts" but I haven't seen any discussing the opposite. What gets your vote for "ugliest T"?

I'll go first.... I don't like T. blondis. I realize that their size is desirable... but they creep me out. I like Ts that have lots of "hair" and the blondi doesn't have that look... they look like giant muddy house spiders to me.

This of course is not to be disrespectful to anyone. Just discussing personal preference. I am sure my favorite "lookers" are on other people's "ugly list".
the ugliest (well not that it is really ugly lol) tarantula IME is B. albopilosum that kinky haired thing. reminds me of a bad hair day.

I'm probably gonna get flamed hardcore for this....but I think Avics(minus the versi) are pretty ugly.

Those pink "toes" are nasty

I know people love their horned baboons but I just can't get past that thing sticking outta them. I think the Ts are awesome looking and seem be have neat behaviors but that horn just doesn't do it for me ;)
I have horned baboons and love em! I don't think the horn is necessarily ugly but people do get disappointed when they hear I have "horned baboon tarantulas" and see the horn is basically a blunt nub on top of the cephalothorax.

Why thank you....I guess you can tell I can read too.
Now you know my secret.
lol
still an ugly thread
Its all personal preference, if I could I'd own them all regardless of colour.

I think T. blondis are kinda ugly, although no doubt impressive...

and the albopilosums... unless they're very healthy and spread out, sometimes look hideous...
they're so sweet though... it's the 'do'... kinda like an afro-puff, you just have to be into that to understand them.. LOL

I have to agree with what many others have said in this thread, there are no "ugly" tarantulas, just ones that don't appeal to me as much. this would include B. albopilosums, the regular color form G. rosea, and call me crazy but blue fang slings are pretty unappealing, although adult females are gorgeous.

I have to say theres no ugly ts its just the person ;P
well u are right, everything is just a matter of perspective, so it is the person. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That's why I didn't ask "what is the ugliest tarantula" but "are there any tarantulas that YOU THINK are ugly?"

btw, even as an enthusiast in something, there's nothing wrong with personal preferences. To ask this question isn't a knock against tarantulas, or the hobby, or anything else. It's just asking about people's perspective.

I used to think all T's were ugly before I researched them a lot. The first two that grabbed my eye were Xenesthis immanis and Ephebopus murinus. (A. avic got big points for cuteness! I happen to LOVE little pink toes!)

(I saw a red hued Xenesthis(?) in one of the earlier posts; what is that one called?)

Until recently I thought P. murinus was ugly, but I have really warmed up to them.

I don't think any of them are really ugly anymore (the horned ones I am working on), but there are some that are more eyecatching to me than others. These would mostly be sissy girly girl spiders like Warren mentioned earlier haha :)
