Hey Tommy, I feel your pain. My second T. blondi sling has died as well. The first one died in a molt about a month ago and the other was in a complete death curl and stinky when I got home from work today. Funny, because it stopped eating 2 weeks ago and looked to be in a pre-molt. All the conditions are correct and this morning before I left for work it looked just fine, moving around and all. I have one more sling that I got from Paul and its an X. immanis. It started out really rough at first with feeding and all, but thats been fixed so far. Only time will tell I guess. Im not real happy about this but what can you do you know. Im gonna stick to my Pokies I think.
Oh dang! You lost both of them?! That sucks man.. Sorry to hear it.. Hope the immanis makes it for you..

I'm with you on the pokies! They seem more hardy.. I can't wait until tomorrow.. My pokie package will be here! :D

Yea man, 2 gonners. Thanks for the wishes on the X. immanis. Eh, I guess Im not cracked up for Theraphosa. I am quite surprised as I am keeping mine no different then any of the other guys on here. I am getting a few more Pokies tomorrow as well and a few Lampropelma nigerrimum. My Poecilotheria collection is going through the roof. I picked up a few Poecilotheria smithi last week and Im gonna add a few P. subfusca this week. Im only missing one species now, I think :?

I only have a few pokies right now.. The regalis, rufilata, formosa, & ornata.. Tomorrow I am getting a few striata, couple more rufilata, & another regalis..

I should be getting a metallica, subfusca, & tigrenweselli (spelling?) soon..

That would crush me, losing such expensive slings. My teeny tiny T budget doesn't allow for them in the first place, though. Good luck with all your new lovelies, guys.

Thanks Kristy.. I am a bit gutted about loosing the little one.. It not really the price that gets me though..

The fact that other keepers have kept their blondis alive.. Sorta makes me wonder if I did do something wrong.. It wasn't how I housed it.. the conditions were right.. Maybe it was the crickets? IDK.. I will try again later..

Yes they do. It is mostly due to improper care. These are not beginner species, and even as a experienced keeper you need to be on top of things 24/7.

Tommy, I dont think its the crickets. I breed my own roaches for feeders (Blatta laterialis) and thats all I feed my T's. The food I use for the roaches is a specific roach diet, and the water I use for my crystals is bottled or filtered. I use these feeders for all my T's with no issues at all. My cage conditions are no different then anyone else who has purchased these guys. I do agree that these are not for beginers and even advanced hobbiests need to keep up with them, however I do know plenty of people who keep them very simple (far simpler then I do) and have no problems at all. In fact they have bred and reared them successfully as well. I dont think its always husbandry thats the culprit when one or more is lost. Some just do not do well. They dont lay so many eggs because they were all meant to survive. Natural predation (in the wild of course) along with systemic problems are always a factor. You do what you can to provide as best a natural environment as you can and if it dies its simply life. It stinks to lose anything in your care if you know your doing it correct. No one can be 100% antiseptic in his/her husbandry practice, especially when multiple species from different parts of the world that may have totally different care needs are kept in one room.

Man Tommy... sorry to hear that man.

I remember you were talking about it and I was just wondering. I lost slings before and it sucks but never a T. Blondi. They seem like they are a bit more of a challenge to keep judging by yours and the various problems Robc's had in his videos with Zilla and Sammy.

Anyhow, keep your head up brother! I enjoy your vids and you seem like you do an excellent job with your collection! God bless!

Oh.. Rob "The Man" C! I really enjoy your videos man! I'm a noob at T's so you gotta forgive me!

I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between Burgundy's or Blondi's if they wore name tags! :)

Anyhow, I'm going to stick to my more intermediate/newb T's for now because I've already lost some slings and don't know if I want to invest any more for my collection.

Take care guys!
