Hawking is looking particularly thicc. She's practically glowing.

She started digging and found the 5% sand content in reptisoil, hence the dandruff.

This is the T I found on a dusty top shelf at the LPS, stored with the other empty tanks. I made them humor me by pulling it down. She's living a very full life now 😁

This was how I found her

She's stunning! Can't wait till my sling gets adult albiceps colors. What a great save.
Thank you, she has afforded me some of the most rewarding experiences I have had not just in keeping, but life too. She's my queen. 😍

This little girl decided to come out and say hi today while I was working in her enclosure. First good pic I've gotten since she got some new clothes a few weeks back.

If anyone knows of a male floating around out there in the aether, please let me know.

The pamphobeteus sp. machala molted out of its baby colors today. 20231208_192157.jpg
I think some of my smallest slings are probably gonna molt in the next 24 hours or so, too. The pumpkin patch is looking more like a tick than a spider:

And the little GBB is looking pretty close also. 20231208_191321.jpg

I had to feed crickets today. I hate crickets. My dubia colony needs to expand before I can siphon anymore off and I'm bitter about it because I hate crickets.

Everyone ate though so there's that!

A few need moving up to bigger tanks I've realised too....so I'm now finally getting round to doing the cricket test on the topsoil to double check its fit for purpose....so i guess that's next weekends job now.

Happy Birthday to me 😆

I can't stand how cute this thing is. According to my records he was just under 0.5" in May. They grow up so fast

My Liphistius cf yangae "Suwat" trapdoor spider molted a couple weeks ago and almost doubled in size, so it got rehoused this weekend. Snapped some pics while I had the chance:

Here is the trapdoor it had built in the old enclosure. I felt bad destroying it, but there was no other way to extricate it...

I also did the first rehousing of my group of Phormingochilus sp. Sabah red today. This one is technically unsexed, but I really suspect it's male, both based on growth rate and ventral appearance. We'll see next time it molts, though.

First, here's a pic of it from when I got it in May at around 0.75" DLS:

And now today, slightly over 2.25" DLS:

The rest of them should be ready for rehousing in the next several weeks, so I'll post more pics then.

are you planning on keeping it cooler/feeding less to sow it down somewhat?

That's the plan. I probably won't make any significant changes until it molts again and I can confirm that it's male. The new enclosure should make it easier to recover the exuvia more quickly, so they should be intact.

Gamboge (Orinthoctonus aureotibialis) isn't living up to his/her name yet, but we did graduate out of the vial last night. I had to deviate from my usual extra contactless method (in a bag) and go on an archeological excavation mission instead.

This is Rephil, sac mate of Phil (I have a Pete and Repete too). He's an Aphonopelma steindachneri, so he's going to be this smol for a long time. I chose Rephil because he was the smallest of all the slings they were offering. He is either a whole instar behind his sac mate, or maybe he was destined to be "sibling stew," but humans allowed him to overcome that evolutionary roadblock.

He seems to be shrinking in the abdomen, and his sac mate is getting ready to molt. I've only witnessed him eating twice in the few months I've had him.

This morning he thought he was going to make a burrow. I think not.

So this is what I'm doing today. Waiting for this guy to eat. 18g needle for scale.
