Yes I know about that video. I commented on it recently as Mr.Fraudiye

Yeah, it is a total disrespect of a medically significant species. And fails to promote safe handling of hot scorpions.

Okay, so he claims to have been stung once but I don't care if he is stung ten times. There are so many potential variables involved in this.

Some adults can be allergic and some adults can have a medical condition, that will increase their reaction to the venom.

I don't want polar extremes that is inviting disaster that put the wrong ideas in people's head and lead them to misguided acts such as this young man in the video. I don't want people to encourage unfounded misconceptions and fears that these inverts carry an automatic death sentence. But I also don't want this BS either.

I want the hobby to be very grounded.

Just a final comment before Arachnoboards begins to roll its eyes at me lol.

The hobby doesn't need any junior amateur Dr Scott Stockwells, just responsible and mature keepers.

On a scale of 1 to 5 how toxic are they?
In a healthy adult, Would you require any medical attention if you get stung? I do plan on keeping some but I don't know whether I should or not. Even with my not so venomous scorpions I almost never handle them because you never know if you might have an allergic reaction. What's keeping me from keeping them is that I find it unsettling to keep something that can kill me in my room.

If you compare them to bark scorpions or H. hottentotta, are they more toxic or less?
What would I need to take care of if I intend to keep some.
I just got stung so I'm finding out. Thus far this is much more painful than an AZ scorpion sting. which lasted 24 hrs of swelling and 4 hrs of pain and used benedryl, ibu and tylonol .. I've used the benedryl, ibu and tylonol finger where stung is swollen the venom is acting like it causes neucrosis. I have 3 brazilian yellows and 7 az barks barks are not bad but they were all hungry it was feeding day. and I was not paying attention to where my hand was. I know it is never if you get bit stung but when. Ill keep my eye on it and if push comes to shove talk to posion control whick id wager a paycheck they will have no clue what to do.

After 24 hours I think you will be perfectly fine it is the first few or several hours that most critical.

Watch for systemic symptons such as profuse sweating, altered states of mind, gastrointestinal disturbances such as vomiting and diarrhea, high / low blood pressure, heart palpitations, tachycardia, irregular heartbeats, and respiratory difficulties this could be signs of severe envenomation that can be a preliminary onset of a dangerous autonomic storm. Report immediately to hospital. Please remember localized symptons no matter how painful and intense is not of itself sign of a severe envenomation. Many buthids are equipped with toxins which serves to induce intense pain and nothing more.

follow the above rec. If the envenomation is severe you will show greater responses than just intense pain. It is a potassium channel blocker from what I recall. Kidneys and Shortness of breath and heart issues.
