Saw this tonight on IG and it got me worked up. I wish people researched more before getting a tarantula. To make it worse, the video was edited and played club music in the background; almost as if was made to be a "funny" video. I messaged the guy about the video and told him to add more substrate. Not in a condescending tone, out of pure concern for the tarantula.

People on social media make handling videos all the time too . Ontop of bad cages with too little room or substrate.

I used to sell quite a few T's on Facebook groups, this is the reason I stopped, didn't matter what you told the person care wise they wanted to do it there way, and would send pics like this saying they were fine.

I don't know what IG is and that's probably a good thing.

I scour Craigslist every now and then looking to score enclosures and T's at cheaper prices. It's difficult to look at the few ads I find as the photos are all like the death trap enclosure photo you attached.

Just yesterday I found two ads and the enclosures were horrible death traps. My immediate thought is to rescue them from these poop poor keepers followed by I want to message them and tear them a new rear-end

It's difficult to just go on there and look because it's always the same

I seen a video randomly pop-up from a group I'm not even in, some guy was handling while standing up (tarantula climbing on his face) and the T straight up kicked hairs right on his entire face. Still remember it so clearly, I really hate the stuff people do to them just for clicks and views.

Idiots like that cause species to get banned or get themselves bitten or allergic because holding. 😆😢they are terrible for the hobby. One guy was getting bitten on purpose.

I would have loved to have seen this, some people really don't have a brain, hope he went blind.

Have you ever found anything worth buying. When I browse through Craigslist or FB Marketplace, my usual reaction is, "Are you
s___ing me? I wouldn't pay that if it was brand new."

I found some nice Exo Terra enclosures but they were located in Indiana next to me reasonably cheaper. The drive there and back would exceed the cost in gas than what they are worth.

I did buy a A. chalcodes years ago, sold to me as a female. It was around 3 - 3.5 inches. On the first molt with me it was a mature male, lesson learned.

I find some T's worth buying but the problem with Craigslist is it pulls up locations with ads too far away that's not worth the drive.

The local ones seem to be horrible keepers that obviously are from Facebook groups and the likes. It's easy to tell by the horrible enclosure setups.

I look every now and then just out of curiosity. Locally it's usually a let down.

I look for cork bark now and then. If I find some worthwhile, they're usually asking for 'brand new' prices. It seems to me, if they really want to move the merchandise, they should offer it to me for half the Amazon price. Then I would gladly drive across town to take it off their hands.

That's another thing I have learned with Craigslist, it's full tards.

From vehicles to homes but most ridiculous is the pet section under community. It clearly states cannot sell pets. So these private not business ad posters, post rehoming fees of ridiculous amounts like they are a business minus the vehicle section.

In one regard I support as it kind of helps making sure your pet goes to a good home vs giving away free. On the other you never know if it's stolen pets which has happened here in the St.Louis metro area

I never looked for corkbark before but now I am.
