... And the back door is shut again. Now, with bonus extra leg that didn't make it out with the trash.

No clue what to expect with her right now... Last molt cycle was 150 days, one before that was 250. She's just shy of 100 days post-molt now...so I guess this could actually be her shutting in for a September molt. It'll be interesting to see. Eventually. 🤣

In other news, she should have a few new neighbors soon, including a cousin 🤞🤞...
Great choices! I love my G. Iheringi, its an awesome species. 😍 I just picked up a tiny Y. Diversipes too, and it's adorable. And you can't go wrong with a psalmopoeus. Enjoy your new babies!

Oh no, you missed one!! There’s no genic there! ;-)
I did seriously consider it, but I REALLY wanted a G. iheringi, they haven't been easy to find, and there's very limited space right now on the spider desk...so I had to make some tough choices. These are very much "drop-in replacements" for Nhan (the tiny freebie chromatus sling we lost a year and a half ago), Blue, and Spunk (the MM irminia who matured last October or so...definitely on borrowed time).

I also wanted a P. pulcher, and a tapi, and like four other species of Avic..........so yeah, tough choices lol.

I understand that. I have 4 males, 3 matured, that I’ve already filled the spaces for. Chances are out of the 3 you have coming, at least one will be a male. So many spiders, so little time.

Safe to say, the little lady to whom this particular thread is dedicated will be enjoying her real estate on the spider desk for MANY years to come 🤣🧓

Does this look suspiciously like a great big stretch to anyone else? 🤔

I mean if you zoom way in and squint funny, of course... We're still deeply (ha ha ha) in the burrowing phase here.

Survey says:
Last molt cycle length = 151 days
Last molt date = 154 days ago

Early, but not crazy early given a warm summer in the spider room. And that she's been sequestered in her burrow for 89 days...

Accidentally added more water than I meant to, and flooded the burrow a little. Luckily she's got excessive ventilation, and the sub soaks up the water pretty fast... The flood was over in about 10 minutes, and the sub will dry out in a matter of days.

That said, Miss Lava DID stick her face in the puddle for a few minutes, so maybe it wasn't such a bad thing.

Yeah, she's been closed up in the burrow for 98 days and it's impossible to get a decent photo in there.

Figure she's due for a molt any time in the next 100 days or so 🤣

I tried to get a bit of water to Luca when he was burrowed and flooded the burrow a bit. I swear he gave me a big ol’ stink eye before grabbing a mouthful of dirt and spitting it onto the puddle to sop it up, threatening to close up my window to see him!

Well, you can see Lava's "opinions" in the foreground of that photo, where she "expressed" her "concerns" about my behavior in the past

Really, though...she was facing up/left from the perspective of that photo when I filled her water. If she bothered to turn around and wade in like that, she was thirsty enough that I'm glad the water made it in there for a few minutes.

Survey says: it was a full-on trolling-you stretch :troll: that's my girl!

Still chonk and chilling in her spacious burrow at day 152 of the blockade.
I can 100% see her giving me the cold shoulder (all 8 of them) for CHEATING ON HER with another terrestrial :eek:

On this, the 196th day of the blockade, Milady Lava decided to bust the door open.
1000017020.jpg

She was happy to accept the cricket explorer who decided to check out the freshly opened burrow.

There were toes sticking out when I first saw that she had opened up, but she ducked back in before I could get a photo. Alas.

Not clear yet whether she has secretly molted in there or just decided she was feeling a little peckish.
