I love using veggie containers like this for my Ts, and my sister's juvenile Lp is housed the same:

Once they molt again I'll move them into these high-heeled versions. Good clarity for plastic, stackable and easy to drill. Slightly on the expensive side, but worth it IMO:
These seem really nice. I think I'll upgrade my tarantula into an enclosure like this, once I need to. I'm actually laughing at myself right now because I don't even have my tarantula yet and I'm already planning its rehoming. Sometimes I wonder about myself. o_O I'm curious about the locking mechanism on these containers. Do they click down or what?

The only thing to bear in mind about using your broken bowl is that it may have sharp edges that could injure your T. I personally wouldn't use it for that reason.
I thought it might be okay because I've seen people use broken terracotta, but maybe they do something to the edges I'm unaware of. I'll find something
else to use as a hide. I'm still on the lookout, that's for sure.

Being prepared is good! I had these new homes prepped when my G. pulchripes were still in deli cups :)

The lids of the containers don't lock or click into place, but that's one of the reasons why I like them. Very little vibration when opening or closing the enclosure. I'm going to super glue a simple locking mechanism once I finally decide on one lol

Bits of cork bark work well plus it looks good.

Has anyone used one of these cages from tarantulacages.com? I'm wondering if the screens are safe for tarantulas. On the website it says they are chew proof. 20161215_123024.jpg

Don't know who their screen vendor is, but so far many people report Ts chewing through screens. All they have is time remember that. I would drill holes not screen. Also I'm pretty sure he's no longer making them. He used, when I last contacted him he said he wasn't. If you email, let us know!

Dremel makes a bit that can cut terracotta pots, and grind them down too I believe. You can do A LOT of T stuff with a Dremel.

I personally would not believe any screen is chew-proof. I have watched my rosie, of all Ts, do some serious damage to a screen I wouldn't expect a large dog to be able to chew through :banghead: I wish that weren't the case because drilling holes isn't fun depending on the enclosure you get but it's worth it. I'd say you should be fine with the 'vents' in the top of the enclosure you have, depending on the size of your baby :) Ventilation is important obviously but some Ts need a lot more of it than others depending on their humidity requirements.
