T. plumipes eggsac

Well, my second female T. plumipes has laid a sac :) (first can be seen in previous post)

I have a mated T. purpureus that will hopefully make an eggsac soon, fingers crossed.

If any one has T. cupreus or T. latipes males please let me know!!

Eggsacs

Well, breeding Tapinauchenius has gone very well for me this year. I found 2 new eggsacs over past few days.

T. gigas and T. plumipes have, yes. But it's been quite a long time on the T. plumipes.

Some years back, T. plumipes used to be prevalent in the hobby as WC adults. I believe Sam Marshall had a good size breeding group at one time.

But, Tapinauchenius are not long-lived spiders... and need to be bred on a regular basis. And breed them young... by ~2.5" in DLS all the Taps are more than ready to breed... and you'll have better luck than with old females.

I just discovered another T. plumipes eggsac this morning, from a totally different bloodline than all the rest.

Thanks Tom,

It's interesting... after the spiderlings emerged from the eggsac (at 1st-instar) the mother basically webbed them into layers and then surrounded them again in webbing. Very cool to watch. There's about 215 slings webbed in there.

I know I'll never pull another Tap sac... much better results leaving them with mom.
