We don't kill snakes here. We like them, lol. Thing with lives traps is turning them loose. You have to drive miles away to keep them from coming back. I'd rather them be dead and be done with it. We aren't in a position to move, at the moment, so we'll have to figure something out.

He's currently in a nursing facility, so it's not that he isn't smart so much as he doesn't understand the extent of the damage because he isn't here to see it. We can't move, nowhere to go at the moment. We're trying to buy a house, so hopefully something will shake loose soon. With the virus and our budget, there isn't much on the market though.

I had an uncle who had a couple ball pythons he would use those live catch traps to catch mice to feed his snakes with, he never used poison and froze them for a minimum of 30 days to kill off any parasites. While it's not appealing it does solve the problem of turning them loose. And gets them out of the house.

Also check with any wildlife rehabilitators in your area. They may take donations of rats as feeders. (As long as you're not using poison of course!)

Yea, we're poisoning them and we aren't the only ones in the area doing so. Don't think there is anyone that wants them. Again, I'd rather just kill them and be done with it.

Sorry to hear. Sounds difficult. Also, I don't know your situation, but I wold be concerned that the infestation might get put on you. In that I mean you might be seen as liable for the damages to the house. Family can be very greedy/vindictive in these situations. No need for you to go into your personal details, just something to think about.

Rodents typically don't setup shop for random reasons, so something not obvious to you is bringing them in.There is SOMETHING/S that they are attracted to, I'd call a specialist in.

Use a bucket trap.. and traps need to be maintained daily. There is a ton of different ways to make them just google 5 gal bucket mouse trap.

Should take care of your problem..

Also depends on what kind of land you live on, woodland and field areas have mice and there’s nothing you can do about it.

I’ve used these traps for years and I’m an exterminator.. forget the rodenticide use the bait and maintain method. Baiting won’t bring more to you if they are already there...

I’d like to see the area around you and some of the problem areas your seeing them.

few personal notes

-make sure the bottle or can moves around easier than...

- only put peanut butter on two different sides of the can or bottle.
