He matured July 29th, 2013 already. Just haven't had a chance to send him off before. Also, I did post up the vid of him loading up his palps :D Missed that?
Oh, also: If you scroll up, you'll find I posted a couple pics of my A. amazonica female in one of her defensive modes - as proof that mine aren't that nice and friendly :D

Here's the vid on the new arrivals

A. amazonica female molted and some more updates...

"Kyla" eventually decided to molt on September 12th, 2013. Around the 4" mark now and very beautiful. Will rehouse her once she's hardened up, since she certainly outgrew the current one now. Especially for, Michael, enjoy the vid and pictures ;)

Avicularia amazonica, "Kyla", ~4" female a couple days after molting

And this goes to show that even the most docile T can sometimes act differently :D (Warning: Cuteness!)

Now for the pictures:

"2 of 4", Euathlus sp. "red", ~1.25" unsexed (the one from the video above)

Avicularia diversipes, (suspect) male, ~3.25" - he was a bit skittish today

Avicularia diversipes, (suspect) male, ~3.25" - but no running out, very much assume he's in premolt...

Avicularia diversipes, (suspect) male, ~3.25" - close up personal

"Kyla", Avicularia amazonica, ~4" female after molting - squeezing the moisture out of her molt...

"Kyla", Avicularia amazonica, ~4" female after molting - a few hours later...

"Kyla", Avicularia amazonica, ~4" female after molting - and a couple days later her colors are very intense..

Avicularia geroldi, ~1.25" sling, unsexed - why is it that my Avics are a little defensive? I touched this one to get his legs out of the way, he nearly bit me in response, lol :D

"Azure", Avicularia purpurea, mature male, ~4" - this T is so moody, sometimes insanely skittish, sometimes totally docile...really weird

"Saranyu", Tapinauchineus violaceus, ~4.25" adult female - she ate quite some after I removed the dud-sac and now looks quite fat...probably going into premolt soon again...

That's it for now, thanks for checking on my pictures! Appreciated!

Rehoused the A. amazonica and "Phaedra" showed up!

Really great set Jan!

Thank you, Michael. I reduced shutter time to 1/30 and occasionally 1/15 even and it seems the results are getting better some. "Azure" is very unpredictable - once in contact he's totally docile, but if you disturb him while in his home and the light hits him - he's going nuts and runs circles so I tend to avoid that ;)

Some beautiful avics Jan. I want that amazonica :)
Thank you, Sir! And nope - she's not for sale ;) But you should get some of them with your next haul ;)

Actually rehoused her since she outgrew her old enclosure. Measured her at 4.25" currently. So she nearly gained a whole inch last molt. Amazing...

Here's her in the new enclosure...

...and "Phaedra" finally showed up again - after not having seen her for 3 months due to molt-preperation and molting - 1st time since then that I saw her today evening.

"Firali", Psalmopoeus irminia, adult female, 5" - very defensive, always willing to bite...she's my little Psycho :D

"Phaedra", Psalmopoeus irminia, adult female, 5" - complete opposite of "Firali", very high threshold, slow moving, not ever tried to bite or slap, gives plenty of warning before reaching that point

"Flavio", Psalmopoeus pulcher, mature male, ~4.5" - he's refusing food but is still very fast and shows some attitude at times...though I doubt he'll see the next year...*sniff*

"2 of 4", Euathlus sp. "red", unsexed 1.5" sling - he/she took a little walk today (this is the one from the vid I posted above...)

"2 of 4", Euathlus sp. "red", unsexed 1.5" sling - naturally, he went straight for me and climbed onto my leg, my chest and when he tried hiding in my chest pocket I thought it might be time to put him back in ;)

"Gemma", Euathlus pulcherimaklaasi (sp. "blue femur"), 4.5" female - still hasn't molted, still very gentle, slightly skittish but overall a very friendly tarantula

"Gemma", Euathlus pulcherimaklaasi (sp. "blue femur"), 4.5" female - still hasn't molted, still very gentle, slightly skittish but overall a very friendly tarantula

I've been browsing this thread for a little while now and I couldn't resist the urge to tell you how awesome all of your shots are, especially those of your fimbriatus! They're gorgeous! I can't wait to see mine start to get adult coloration. Also want to say that it's a pleasure to come across one of your videos on YouTube (and on here). Your enthusiasm for and appreciation of your spiders is contagious haha. Keep up the awesome photos, I'll be following this thread more closely in the future for sure!

Thank you for the kind words, I'm trying to put the hints Michael, Chad and others give me to work. While I think my pictures did improves quite some, I'm far from their skills however ;). The couple C. fimbriatus has both sealed themself in and deny food, so premolt. I'll update on them once they show up again. Again, thank you for the nice words, it's really appreciated. ;)

Oh, wow - slow down Tiger ;) As stated above, Michael and Chad (as well as at least 4 other people - you know who you are!) are the "ultimate" guys in regards to taking pictures. As for how I did take pictures of my Pokies? House Poecie - open vial, use camera? ;) Simple as that. They're not a problem if I open their vials, just sit there. Never bolted out once so far. If you want to have yours sexed, post it in the corresponding forum, please. That's what it's there for - you can share a link to the pic then, I can check on it once you uploaded it then, too.

A couple days passed and she's recovering nicely...

"Jewel", Homoeomma sp. "blue" female, ~5" - she got ~1" during the molt approx.

"Jewel", Homoeomma sp. "blue" female, ~5" - intense colors, insane, right?

"Jewel", Homoeomma sp. "blue" female, ~5" - such a beauty! If you get an opportunity - snatch some!

As an important sidenote: Thrixopelma lagunas looks nearly exactly like these, but has a very different spermathecae and mine are Homoeomma sp. "blue" - not Thrixopelma! ;) Also, if these would be Thrixopelma cyanealoum they would have red hairs on the abdomen, as well as quite long reddish hairs on the legs, too. These guys have blueish hairs...not red! ;)

No problem man :). Funny, two of mine just molted also. It's amazing how fearless they are at a mere 3/4"+. They start to feel the enclosure moving or the top opening and they run out of their burrows rather than back inside haha. You'll have to post some pictures of yours freshly molted! Also, great pictures of the Homoeomma girl you have. That indigo/navy blue is stunning against that muted orange. Stunning species.

Thanks, Pat. Congrats on the couple molts you had with your Ts. And yeah, mine are like that. Especially during night - I stopped feeding them during that time as they were starting to get prone to jet out and boy - they are lightning fast! My female molted actually the day before yesterday (approx) and looks to be around the 4.5"+ mark now - waiting for her to reappear. I'll gladly update them once they showup again. The male hasn't molted yet - I'm assuming either this or the following will be his maturing molt anyways... The Homoeomma sp. "blue" are unbelieveable beautiful indeed - funnily, mine come with a certain amount of attitude. At least my female is quite defensive at times, wheras the male it pretty placid. *shrugs* Temperaments do vary :p

You again, tempting me with those gorgeous tarantulas...
Aww..you know you want one! Even before looking at my thread....;) Guess I'm starting to be "enabler" for some species now, hehe :p

Which one? I have a couple :p Oh, wait - they're all beautiful and awesome! Right! :D Kinda want to try handling "Phaedra", but it's just not worth the risk - despite the fact that she's insanely calm for her species.

Yeah, Jan infected me with his love for this species..

Gotta love P. irminia, simply one of my absolute favorite species. Never had any problems with mine either - as long as you respect them and learn to judge their behavior ;) As far as you can do, that is... :D

"Jewel", Homoeomma sp. "blue" female, ~5" - she wasn't happy to see me today, received this upon opening the enclosure - moody much? :)

"Jewel", Homoeomma sp. "blue" female, ~5" - she calmed down after a few moments, though

"Neelam", Homoeomma sp. "blue" male, 5"+ - he's still in premolt although I suspect him to molt some time during the upcoming couple weeks...;)

"Lin", Avicularia versicolor female, ~ 3.75" - she still hasn't molted obviously and hasn't eaten for approx. 2 months now either...

"Lin", Avicularia versicolor female, ~ 3.75" - Looks healthy and is very defensive though...so I just wait for her to molt anytime now. Last molt was March this year...

Unnamed, Poecilotheria fasciata, unsexed sling ~1" - rehoused this little one today because I didn't like the idea of the T being "cramped" into a pilljar...

Unnamed, Poecilotheria fasciata, unsexed sling ~1" - transfer went easy-as-can-be, didn't run around crazy, just walked out of the old enclosure into the new one...simple.

"Spot", Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens (GBB) ~4.25" - thought this one would be a male, but after the last molt I'm not sure anymore, sadly the molt was munched, so will have to wait and see...looks female to me now...hmmm

"Lyssa", Psalmopoeus langenbucheri, unsexed ~2.75" - still didn't get a sexable molt from this one, thought I suspect female

"Lyssa", Psalmopoeus langenbucheri, unsexed ~2.75" - better picture actually - also this one is very calm thought fast and skittish, just not really defensive at all

Thanks for checking on my pics ;)

Are you planning to breed yours? Would be interested in a few babies, then..It's not THAT far.

Mine finally settled in her 'cave', on the ground which is sort of strange, but fascinating. And I'm going to need longer tongs.

Great pics of fantastic spiders, Jan! Jewel is, well, a jewel. LOL Now I'm anxious for my 'Spectre' to make her grand post-molt entrance. I've loved watching the color changes in this species as they mature. Never dull!

I do plan on breeding them, yes. We could probably work something out by then...we'll see.
Yeah, irminias are pretty fascinating to watch. They're very different in temperament and behavior obviously, too.

Thanks, Joyce! Glad you like the pics and I fully agree: She is indeed one of the Jewels of my collection. Now it would be nice if my E. pulcherrimaklaasi spiderlings would consider growing, haha. Still 0.5 - 1" :D

I have a few of these species such as irminia, GBB, and versicolor. I see yours are mostly adults however where as mine are all still slings therefore I'm still a tad bit jealous :p Oh well, guess it's just a matter of power feeding and patience.
