Silly tarantula stuff

I guess we need a place for all those silly tarantula spider things.

I just got this as a gift. I would not have bought this for myself, but as a gift, it really made me warm inside.

All the kids in the borough and those who know the kids in the area, know we have tarantulas. They always come to knock to see the spiders.

the biggest disappointement is not being able to touch them. But i think, that means its a success: they are not afraid. They think they are awesome and want to look at them.

A friend of mine's sister just had frickin' TRIPLETS, & he ordered them plush novelties from some joint that does all sorts of animals, & seeing they also did a spider, had one sent to me as well, LoL. I generally get a lot of octopus stuff because I used to keep a few cephalopods, but I dig the spider.

Also, whenever there's an article anywhere in the mainstream pertaining to spiders of any kind, my phone absolutely blows up with texts & emails linking me to it, LoL

There are currently 25 tarantulas which live in a small town in North Wales in the UK

Most people would go mad or insist they only live in zoos.

I actually like both sizes SPECIFICALLY FOR my Avics through their youth. Maintenance is super easy, because they're almost always at the top, so I just take it apart & do what I have to do leaving them relatively undisturbed. Those ports on top & the side are nice for feeding too, as I can usually just place their food stuffs directly in front of them. It'd be nice if they came in that real high quality acrylic, as I've cracked more than a few of these (especially the larger ones), & they don't always fit together smoothly, but overall I prefer them to the "spider crib" type stuff that's out there on just about every metric other than aesthetics.

LoL, that's funny, because I can't stand those stupid AMAC boxes. They're too cumbersome (crack easier than those large cylinders, in my opinion, with a worse fit), & lack top ventilation (upside down, OR right side up), & access points. Never messed with the Thornton vials, but I do the same thing with the angled cork bark. Before I set one up, I lose it up to see where the top port aligns with the bottom, & align the water dish halfway between the top & side ports, so I can hit it with an inserted eye dropped from one of the other. With the small ones, I take some fake leaves, & attach a spray onto a toothpick, which I insert into the bark, leaving a slight gap between the top of the leaf array, & the top of the cylinder; 99.9% of the time, that's where they choose to make their little web lair. Since the cops are so thoroughly slotted, ventilation is never an issue, & again, access for feedings & watering through the ports, g maintenance is as easy as twisting it apart from the center. Fruit flies gravitate toward the top, in the event they initially get away, & crickets will inevitably climb the bark too, should they get away at first. And if there's no interest, a gentle rap on the top will send both to the bottom, & entice the sling to hunker down, making removal that much easier....all while preserving the integrity of their webwork. Which I have absolutely no qualms about destroying, as they'll simply build a new, but if they web where it's convenient right off the bat... which they usually do...why wreck it? By the time it gets out of hand, they've moved out of it anyways.

• Canvasses of Genie my Acanthoscurria ginuculata and one of.my B smithi and a hand painted p regius jumping spider
• Candle tea light holders in the shape of spiders
• Plush toys (several)
• 12inch Fibre optic Christmas tree covered in web and spiders for "baubles"
• Memorial plaque for Genie where she is buried in the garden (RIP)
• Metal web outside wall art
• 2 cut away anatomical models
• Glass spiders
• Spider keyring
• 3D printed spider
• Real Web mounted in a picture frame
• Box frame with 2nd to last mounted moult of Genie (plus several cricket boxes full of moukts I use for educational purposes)
• Wooden spider model
• Paper weight from Texas (a colleague brought back after visiting America)

I think that's it off the top of my head. My kids/friends always manage to find me something spider related for Christmas and Birthdays,. There is always something that gets added especially this time of year when all the Halloween stuff is out. Ha ha

What you said about them is true. I'm very careful when I drill them, never cracked one YET. Thorton is much thicker or more study. I love them!

Yeah I need a picture of yours. If I took a Thorton style, and dropped it into these that we both have, half the cork slice rests against the top half. That isn't good at all for me, the slice will slide around and such. Sure the vents and feeding slots are nice! However I don't see how people use them.
The inverted box works for me because I take it apart and I can drop a cricket right into the top, and BAM eating time.

i would love tshirts with a real looking tarantula on it. Not some cartoon anatomicaly wrong picture.

i wish the members with the talent would say a word. I sure would pay 30$ CAD for a good Tshirt. USA Has best gear. And BTS’S last hood was really sweet.

there is a market. Just not good talent, yet. And i know good talent. I could get some designers to do some things. But i want tarantula people to do it.

id pay up to 100$ CAD (no shipping duty extra), for a real artwork tshirt. But i wont buy crap. The 30$ i said before, was if it was in Canada.

if i buy a tshirt anywhere else, i have duty, shipping and exhange. Which bring me up to 100$, for just a tshirt

My favourite T shirt is one of Genie (in my avatar) so that is a 100% real spider.
One of my wall art is of Genie bursting out a wall that I had commissioned. Then my Daughter spotted they were trying to sell them as a general item until I started throwing copyright laws at them and they then stopped listing her. She was mine and nobody else is entitled to have her! Ha ha

I love the bug zoo! Last year for Christmas my sister braved her severe arachnophobia to buy me some spider stuff from there. She got me these earrings as well as spider socks, a book, and a cool tarantula sticker.

My collection of spider things is pretty small for the time being but I'm going to be in Victoria pretty soon....
