I don't own any scorps but I saw this title in the latest posts and I smelled trouble.

Yeah, I'm certain that's not going to fly well here.

Your scorpion could have been seriously hurt. In fact, it looked like the mouse got some good bites on your scorp several times in the video. It was obvious both the mouse and the scorp were trying to get away...

Perhaps you are wanting me to answer your question? It's dangerous, downright asinine, to feed mice to your pet in the manner depicted in the video. I don't keep scorps, but it's painfully clear that video isn't a feeding vid, but a sorry attempt to get two things to fight to the death. I mean, you're tilting the enclosure so they have no choice but to sting and bite each other!
What's wrong with you?!
That's not "feeding!"

Plain and simple, if you can justify this garbage (despite knowing the risks as your post and youtube channel seems to indicate) with "it puts on a great show" and with "i felt my scorpion could handle it,"
You shouldn't be allowed to keep ANYTHING until you grow up, and even then I wouldn't trust you with a houseplant.

Oh, and welcome to the boards. Troll or not, you've got a lot of learning ahead of you, I think.

I don't see the point to feed a mouse to your scorp to be honest
They do just well with crickets/roaches etc
In fact there are theory that suggest that too much calcium from the mouse lead to molting problem and what's more, u are putting your scorp at a huge risk!
Imo, it's plain stupid and obviously u just wanna see a ''great show''
Sorry to sound harsh thou

Hobo has it right.

All I have to say is you're not impressing anyone with that. It's not even feeding, it's a gladiator match.

Why am I not surprised that someone ignorant enough to (try to) feed a large, unstunned mouse to a scorpion with impotent venom would also have an inappropriate enclosure? If your poor scorp survives being chewed up by an unsuitable prey item, you might want to actually give it a halfway decent environment: ie. a moisture holding fine particulate substrate like coconut fiber, soil, or peat so that it can actually burrow as nature intended.

It sickens me that these are being rapaciously over-collected in the wild despite the CITES status, just so fools with too much free time and too little compassion can mistreat them in the captive environment.

Never done it...

I guess it's intriguing to watch when you first come into this world.... but once you've been in this for a while it's not appealing. There's been many people posting about this topic throughout my time here.

What's always said is ...

It could injure your scorpion.

It is not necessary food.

Mouse has a "higher" nervous system that lets it feel way more pain and emotion then a cricket or roach does.

The real reason it's done is for your entertainment.

Someone on the outside looking in on this topic might think that we're tree hugging wusses or whatever and that it's just a worthless mouse being overbred anyways.... and that they are killed in such horrible ways everyday all around this planet... that we eat animals that are killed aswell blah blah

Buuuuut

When it comes down to it... there's no need for that and you can avoid causing suffering and pain to a lesser being.

And there's a difference between killing for food and entertainment.

I'd kill whatever ... however... if I needed food.

that about sums it up. I'd eat my scorpions if i was starving in a famine. I don't kill anything for pleasure though. I only kill feeders and things that feed on me, like mosquitos, and even then it's to keep from itching or getting exposed to disease, not the thrill of killing.

Mice re not a good choice for a food source. In the long run they are not a healthy diet for most invertebrates.

Talk him into feeding his scorpion a large roach or something. It would still be interesting to watch and wouldn't be putting the scorpion at any risk. Most of us here enjoy the feeding responses we get out of our T's and scorpions. I'm glad to see that you removed the video and that you also didn't come back here with a defensive attitude towards anyone's comments. I hope you enjoy AB's as much as many of us do. You can learn a lot of valuable information on here.

Then why, in your other post which has been conveniently removed, did you refer to it as "my scorpion?"

At any rate, I'm glad you are no long-

err, I mean your "friend" is no longer going to feed mice, particularly in this manner. Please tell your "friend" that I formally apologize if I came on too strong; These types of videos/attitudes tends to rub people (me, at least) the wrong way here. And yes, I do sincerely hope you enjoy these forums, and above all, learn from them.

I felt the same way as the OP did when i first got scorps. but then i matured up and realized how unnecessary it is, and how stupid it is to even post anything about it on a site like this.

What's next, tarantula vs scorpion?

the OP states that its his "friend's" scorpion... like it negates the fact that it is still the OP whos videotaping the "gladiator fight"..
i forsee 2 possible outcomes..
1) OP grows up and stops things like this...
2) OP enjoys torturing small animals and ends up being a serial killer...lol
im hoping for #1 haha

aside from the fact that feeding a mouse to scorpions may be stupid, I hardly see a case of animal abuse. Come back to reality here.:wall:
