I read a paper saying that Rhyparobia maderae might be able to change their life cycle to accommodate for season changes, but from my experience (and others') with the species it's hard to get them to reproduce even under ideal conditions.Would it be possible for a tropical species to 'morph' into a temperate pest species, or have I been watching too many science fiction movies?
A lot of our pest species originated in Northern Africa, and I'm sure they've done some adapting as they've been shuffled about the planet, but not much.
