LOL when I read what you wrote it reminded me of this caresheet on Red Tail Boas ... "Take a moment.... ...and ask yourself a couple of very important questions such as: do you really want a snake that will get to be 10 feet long, weigh over 50 pounds, urinate and defecate like a St. Bernard, should live more than 30 years and for whom you will have to kill mice, rats and, eventually, small rabbits? ... "

The caretaker of large boids and crocs at Alligator Adventure in Myrtle Beach, SC, feeds the adult Retics GOATS. He saws off the horns and tosses them in with the snake, pre-killed, of course. My largest ate shoat pigs, which means they were nearly BBQ-sized pigs, ready for market, and that got expensive, believe me! That's something you have to be prepared for if you obtain a regular Retic. In contrast, I've never had a Boa that could not be satisfactorily maintained on jumbo rats, even if it took more than one rat per meal. Rats are still cheaper, and easier to pick up and feed to a snake, than a pig or a goat!
