Hey anyone know of a perfect enclosure for a t.albo sling? I was given this as a freebie. I sprayed the sides of a little container that the hentzi came in but yea its not transparent so I can only see it from above.

Also what food sizes can I offer it? Its so tiny... whats the easiest thing i can find in a petsmart or petco that I can offer it? Do i wait a week before offering food? 20220310_175311.jpg 20220310_175247.jpg

Tempted to use fruitflies but they are rather annoying to use as I cant properly distribute them

Cut up Mealworms or Crickets are great for spiders this small. Killing them myself took some getting used to though.
Anithing prekilled works well really.

Tiny pinhead Crickets or B. lateralis nympths work well too but they grow out of the proper size rather quickly, so it is not really cost effective.

Fruitflies have zero nutritional value - grab a couple crickets from the LPS and RIP THEIR LEGS OFF :vamp: The sling will scavenge on those.

Any little container that you can put some holes in easily will work for this - most people use deli cups with lids. Something small enough that the T can find the food you put in there, but large enough for it to move around and dig some like a 4 or 5.5 oz deli cup, or an 8 oz or 12 oz on the larger end. Use a push pin or soldering iron to poke some holes in it for ventilation and you'll be good for a couple months at least.

The deli cup is too large. The vent holes are too big. I see an escape.

...I can't be the only one a little scared of you right now

Agree with this. Prekill anything you think might be large (with small crickets, just squish the head with another pair of tongs or tweezers. For meal worms, crush the head, and I'm not great at the "cutting" thing; I just tear them in half and offer each end to my smallest slings or any sling). You can't really go wrong with anything prekilled honestly, but it should be able to easily take down a small b. lateris at that size (what is it, a half inch or less?)

I agree current cup looks like they could squeeze out, any small container that closes tightly with air holes made with a thumbtack would work tbh.

you can buy a bulk pack of clear deli cups at most markets just use a thumbtack poke a bunch of vent holes on the sides and lid then add in about anywhere from 1/4 to an inch of sub with a pinch of moss and your good far as food goes a cup of 50 count meal worms cut to size for it will probably last you until that sling is big enough to take lg petsmart sized crickets

You need to rehouse it ASAP or at least cover up the ventilation holes you have now, it can very likely easily squeeze out of the current holes. If the carapace can fit through, it will escape.

do a slow through search of the area by the cage good chance it can be close by just hiding by somthing unless you stepped on it not knowing make sure to check the sub as well it could have dug to the bottom

This might be obvious, but did you use a small paintbrush to sift through every little bit of substrate in that blue deli cup? They can be pretty elusive even in small spaces like that.
