Hey all, gonna try and keep this short and sweet.
I've been looking into introducing cleanup crews to some of my Tarantula enclosures once my tropical species get a bit larger, but I haven't been able to find anyone who sells Isopods or Springtails around here. No luck online either, so far.
I'm curious about how T's react to having Isopods introduced to their enclosure - will they try to eat them? Are they too small for the Ts to bother with? Or do they maintain a symbiotic relationship similar to that which some wild Ts will have with frogs?
The reason I ask is, while I cannot find anyone selling Isopods, my garden is absolutely crawling with them. In some parts of my flower bed, it looks like there's more Isopods than soil. We've never used any form of pesticide in the time we've lived here (will be 11 years in June), but we have used organic compost and my S.O. insists on using Miracle Grow (much to my aggravation). I don't know what sort of pesticides or fertilizers the former tenants might have used though.
I understand that offering WC prey items to Ts is potentially asking for trouble, but do you think introducing WC cleanup crew would be safe?
(P.S. I hope I've put this in the right section - I didn't want to put it in the "Other Inverts" forum because I'm wanting to know specifically how T's react to them. If this is seen as a problem though, I have no issue with this thread being moved. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to read.
