Questions about new Antilles Pink Toe tarantula set up

Hello! I’m thinking about getting an Antilles Pink Toe tarantula (Caribena versicolor), but I just can’t seem to find a big enough enclosure with cross ventilation. Any suggestions for one to get? I’m looking for 12x12x18 minimum, if possible. Any other tips would be appreciated- I’ve never owned a tarantula before and I’m really excited. Also, would it be ok to bring in sticks or plants from outside to decorate his habitat? I’m assuming you sterilise them in some way, but I don’t know how-

If you get a sling, that will be way too big. I'm planning a 12x12x18 for my psalmpeous T's, I have a nano tall I'll be using for my versicolor.


This is the current setup, I've had her a year now from sling.


T size will determine enclosure needs.

I’m hoping to get an adult, but if I do get a sling then I’ll have to rethink everything.

12X12X18 seems really, really large.... I'm currently using a 7X7X11 enclosure from Jamie's Tarantulas for my juvenile versi; it provides good cross ventilation. They also sell an 8X8X14, which I think would be plenty of room for an adult versi. Best of luck and I think you'll really enjoy this species!

Don't use sticks, use wide flat pieces of wood that offer a stable platform to hunt from and stretch out on.

Most outside wood is a poor choice, but if you know what to look for, it can be readily available. I find driftwood to be the best and its all I have used for as long as I can recall.

If you get an adult, it will do fine in an ExoTerra. Replace screen with drilled in acrylic
