Have you kept P. ecclesiasticus as well? I've raised almost all of the other described species from slings but for some reason the P. ecclesiasticus have grown unusually slowly for me.Do you have adults? Curious how their growth rates were for you. My sling is growing pretty slowly compared to other Psalmopoeus I've kept...
Nope, P. ecclesiasticus and P. emeraldus are the 2 I've not kept. I had ecclesiasticus in my last order but they weren't in good shape after import, so switched to something else. I have a sexed female emeraldus in my sights, so I'll have that soon. Interesting that you saw similarly slow growth from ecclesiasticus. Hopefully this one will make some gains soon!Have you kept P. ecclesiasticus as well? I've got one...Does anyone here have them in their collection?
I have a few slings that are labeled Psalmopoeus sp black. Not sure which ones they are yet.
Nice, psalmopoeus species are my favorite.I've got one...
0.0.1 Psalmopoeus sp. Panama - 2.5" DLS
Had this one for a year, and it's grown much slower than any other Psalmo I've kept. Eats like...
I have lots of favorites, but Psalmos are definitely one of the top few.Nice, psalmopoeus species are my favorite.
I literally just got these so couldn’t speak much on them. Generally speaking all my other psalmopoeus have grown fairly quick compared to other species.I have lots of favorites, but Psalmos are definitely one of the top few.I was mentioning how slowly this P. sp. Panama is growing compared to most of the other Psalmopoeus I've had - are you noticing anything similar with yours?
Cool. I'll be interested to hear what your thoughts are after you've had them a while. And I'm guessing that P. sp. black is the same as sp. black orchid and sp. Panama. Once we all grow them up we'll know for sure, I suppose!I literally just got these so couldn’t speak much on them. We both know it'll be way..... in the future lol.It could be sp Alquitran or sp Panama for now they remain two destinct species but that may change in the future
Hopefully someone with both or either will post pics of spermathacae and other features so we can at least try to tell the differenceWe both know it'll be way..... in the future lol.
The P sp. black I found is very attractive. At least from the photo the dealer provided. I was fighting my finger from clicking on 'add to cart'. Had to tell myself 'you know better just wait'Hopefully someone with both or either will post pics of spermathacae and other features so we can at least try to tell the difference![]()
In my opinion they are high price because you can’t find them anywhere. Supply and demand.I found a P. sp black for sale
and over $100 like $148. One of the reasons I hate when dealers capitalize on undescribed tarantulas. This is a perfect example of it.
That's true too and another reason to hike the price. In my opinion they are high price because you can’t find them anywhere. Supply and demand.
Whoa.....I can believe it though. My female P. irminia is only 5 inches dls with no signs of premolt or me expecting her to get any bigger.Guys, I have news about this - and my mind is blown... I returned from a work trip and found that my little suspect male P. sp. black had molted, which was expected. What wasn't expected is that it would MATURE! It was (is) tiny - like almost N. incei size, the exuvia measured 2.75"... I'm certain he's mature, as well, but I'll get him out this weekend and do a proper photo shoot and get measurements. I know that not all Psalmos are giants, but compared to the cambridgei male I just shipped off that was close to 7" DLS this guy is practically a dwarf...

So, anyone know somebody with a mature female in the US?
True. My pulcher and victori females aren't huge, but they look downright massive compared to this guy. It is just shocking when you have what you think is a big sling and after 1 molt it's an MM,Whoa.....I can believe it though.
