oh my bad - maybe mine are just lighter because they're smaller

is yours scared of the little pinheads? try killing the cricket and leaving it there.. I read about it here and now my scared and tiny slings feed almost daily otherwise most times they'd run away scared. :wall:

We named her Lydia von Ludwig.
(if you give it a girl's name, it turns into a girl, right?)
Spiderling (.75") fresh in from Jacobi:

Nice shots! I thought about getting a few shots of our new metallicas, until one ran from the vial and we had to chase it!!! Fast little suckers. Thanks for sharing!

Ok, well my P. Metallica is arriving tomorrow around noonish :D

Over the past week I put together this enclosure for it. Its a salt shaker a bought at a dollar store. Its 3.5" - 4" Tall, 2.5" diameter. It has 1/2" of peat moss substrate, and a piece of cork barb at as a nice place to build a hide. Let me know what everyone thinks.

How big is the P. metallica? I think it looks great, maybe the only thing that might worry me is the size of the holes. They look huge in the pic, but that could be just a scale problem. Slings can squeeze through something surprisingly small, especially pokies, because they are so long and slender. I'm sure you'll have a better idea when your T actually arrives though.

I have two of those exact shakers that I use for slings, only using one right now for an irminia but to tell you the truth I would not use it for a metallica, I don't like the fact that you are blind to what is going on in the lid and have had a few near escapes because of it so for a sling the price of a metallica I would go find something else, other than that they are fine... The little beta tanks work nice but you do need to secure the top as they come off very easy, I use a large rubber band for that... Greg
